Much as I love great films I also have a great fondness for the very worst in cinema. Plan 9 From Outer Space is a particular favourite but I'm also a fan of garbage like Masters Of The Universe and The Incredible Dr Humpp (a singularly awful monster movie I saw on late night TV in a season which appeared to specialise in the worst films ever made in europe, ah memories). I'm wanting to expand my viewing in this much maligned area and though www.jabootu.com and www.theagonybooth.com have given me some to seek out I'd like any recommendations from you schmoes.

Also; has anyone seen Robot Monster? It's meant to be terrible (in a really fun way) and I was wondering if it is worth my getting the dvd.

John Woo's Broken Arrow fits into that category for me.

well, my fellow schmoe...

One of my favorite bad movies is Humanoids From The Deep. there's NOTHING more satisfying than watching a bunch of fish-men rip up a small fishing village....

The worst movie I've seen recently that might be up your alley is Black Mask 2: City of Masks. It's so fun watching a movie where they think they have revolutionary effects, but in reality is just one long Power Rangers movie with Traci Lords

***When looking for a good bad movie, its important that you look for these three words

ROGER CORMAN PRESENTS

I'm serious.. A producer who's famous for ridiculously low budgeted crap fests.. They're WAYY too much fun.

Besides Humanoids, I'd strongly urge you to go out and find a copy of the remake of NOT OF THIS EARTH, starring Traci Lords...

"I HAVE THE POWERRR"

Anyone willing to admit having seen Robot Monster (http://www.jabootu.com/romon.htm)?

From what I've read, this movie actually sounds bad enough to pose a challenge even to the "best" of Edward D. Wood, Jr.

Sometimes I envy folks who can appreciate cheesy flicks for the fun of it. I guess I have one of those cheese hating genes in my DNA; cause no matter how much I try (which I guess is the problem... if ya have to consciously try, forget it) I cannot get into these type of flicks. I cant even say that when I was teen, I loved em, and my tastes have changed. I NEVER loved them... like I said, I have given the boyscout try, but not go. I recently viewed Plan 9 from Outer Space.... man, so bad on so many levels.... For about the first 15 minutes, I was like, "ok, this aint so bad, I'm gonna enjoy this stuff"... but after 40 minutes, I thought I was gonna start bleeding from my eyes and ears if I didnt immediately turn it off. All I can say is, have fun and enjoy your cheese! Dont let anyone get ya down! "One man's Limburger, is another mans' Gouda" :D

thanks for the tips guys.

Tonights TV has thrown up one I've not seen yet; Armageddon, which I'm sure will suck.

Romero; Humanoids from the deep sounds cool, reminds me a bit of OCTAMAN (I've not seen it but its so bad that even the people a b movie review site 3b theater couldn't stand it). Also didn't a certain Mr Corman present Martin Scorsese and Jonathan Demm's first films>

yeahyeah, corman has a HUUUUGE list of movies under his belt. He dabbles in all genres, but his sci-fi horror stuff is usually worth the price of a rental. In fact, its practically guarenteed that you're going to see some dammmned fine cheese! I'm not sure of any of his other stuff. In all seriousness, I've never had the balls to check them out.

I was actually going to buy an old copy of octaman a little while ago, but I passed up the chance.. it looked reallly cool, though.

First off, 'SCREAM' by Wes Craven is by far one of the better horror movies of the 90's. Yes, the sequels were lame and sucked, but the original was a well directed, well acted, and well told story that involved great dialogue and character development. Sure, it's not Nightmare on Elm Street, but it does not suck.

A horror movie that does suck is Sleepaway Camp.

Worst. Movie. Ever.

hey i do agree with you on Sleepaway Camp. I liked the sequels but the original was crap. I still think masters of the universe is great as a bad movie but I still think The Mangler is the worst film ever. but i my opinion really does suck.

xXx is one of those bad movies that are so bad, you gotta love em. I laughed at some of Vin Diesel's terrible lines, such as "nothing but fresh white powder".

My advice would be to check out the MST3K version of Robot Monster.. you'll probably have a bit of fun with it.

I know the original Robot Monster is on dvd, is the MST3K version out?

Also what is MST3K like, I hear wonderful things but, being British, have never seen it as to my knowledge it has never been broadcast here.

Manos is another I have heard of, and I hear the MST3K of the was great, I look forward to seeing that movie.

For the record Armageddon was awful, but not bad enough to be good, if you get me.
