View Full Version : The Company Of Wolves
I love this flick, one of my all time favorite movies ever. Has anybody seen this film? Any thoughts or comments?

It's one of the few movies to succeed in evoking the spirit of the original fairy tales before their essence was diluted over time in an effort to make them more palatable for the little'uns. It's been a long time since I last saw it. It's only available in Germany on DVD but it does contain an English audio track so I may well buy a copy soon. If I do get it i'll post a proper review on the forum. My memories of the movie would have me give it about 4/5.

Class werewolf film. Right up there with Howling and AWIL. Creepy, gothic, lush to look at. Highly recommended.
Great news. THE COMPANY OF WOLVES is getting a reg 1 release! Found this at dvdfile.com:
Indie distributor Hen's Tooth has announced a first-ever widescreen release of Neil Jordan's cult classic The Company of Wolves, starring a very un-Jessica Fletcher-like Angela Lansbury. Featuring a newly remastered 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and English 2.0 Dolby surround track, extras include a still gallery and the trailer. Street date is 10/15 and retail $24.95.

Great Movie!!! One of the most creative horror movies i've have ever seen in my life.
Definitely worth Checking out!
~~~~Neil Jordan is quickly becoming a favorite Director of mine. In the past month I've rented The Butcher Boy and this. Anyone know any other good movies written or directed by him?
Neil Jordan's genius is a little sporadic to say the least. Worth watching are the following,
The Company of Wolves
Mona Lisa
The Crying Game
Interview With The Vampire
The Butcher Boy
The End Of The Affair
All of the above are very good movies. The following are not and should be avoided at all cost,
High Spirits
We're No Angels
I haven't seen the following but have heard nothing but praise for them,
Angel (his debut feature)
The Miracle
Michael Collins
I haven't seen the following but all reports have lead me to believe that it is worth avoiding,
In Dreams
There you have it. Hope that helps.
I actually enjoyed In Dreams. I don't know why it's constantly bashed. Robert Downey Jr. isn't tuned in at all times, but aside from his uneven acting, it's an original, stylish film.
