Well , what do you guys think of this group.
Personally, I think they rock. BOth Get Free and Outtathaway are awesome songs, and i just downloaded their cover of "Ms Jackson" previously done by OutKast, and i suggest you download it too, they aren't all heavy stuff.
I haven't got highly evolved but want to.
One of the best bands to come out in recent years.

I don't care for them. I keep hearing about how they're the next rock greats or the saviors of rock. If that's true I would rather let rock die. I really don't consider screaming at the top of your lungs with a band that's not that talented good. I'll pass on The Vines.
I like 'em a lot but I think they need to cut back on the marijuana.

Yay. Their debut album Highly Evolved is so much more that just screaming and shouting. As well as the obvious Nirvana influence there is a detectable Beatles influence in some of the songs. Highly Evolved, Get Free and Outtatheway are all brilliant, spiky little rock/pop songs. They have bite and are catchier than a very catchy thing. They are slightly overrated but the hype surrounding them doesn't mean they have no value. They are a well above average band with a lead singer who is several verses short of a full song. His constant gurning and face pulling is getting a little tiresome though. So...once again...YAY!!!

A Big Fat NAY!
I deteste The Vines and the lead singers screeching. If he isn't the biggest pothead I have ever seen......I've seen countless interviews with him and he can barely spit out an entire sentence coherently.

I cant get over the fact that so many of my friends and peers have bought into the phony garage-rock/""indie-rock"" revolution bullshit.
I could smell the noxious "one album wonder" fumes when I first heard them at music world.......
....at the mall......
...ROCKK AND ROOOOOOOOOOOOLLLL.

I couldn't have said it better, R&J. Why so many people are buying into this stuff, I'll never know.
Oh, and just to reiterate: Nay

Nay. The vocalist is what hurts the band. He just acts like hes got something wrong with him he just screams and makes faces like hes retarded or on crack, also you hear one of their songs youve heard them all, it all sounds the same. Lately its been a garage band flood starting with The Vines, The White Stripes, The Used, the Exies, The Donnas and not to mention the Hives. They are all one hit wonders, we have them every year.

First...
"also you hear one of their songs and you've heard them all"
You obviously haven't heard the album then. Why comment if you've obviously only heard a few singles? It hardly facilitates a well rounded critique.
Second...
Since when was having a hit any kind of gauge of how talented a band/artist is. Some of the most despicably bad music comes courtesy of "artists" that have hit after hit after hit after hit after fucking hit. The bands that you mentioned are all better than over 80% of the cack that charts. Fact.

Total NAY. A screaming, false band with a lead singer who should spend some quality time at the Betty Ford Center.

Psychocandy...Its only my opinion dude chill out. Second I have heard the bands full album the only songs I dig on the album is Mary Jane, Autum Shade and Aint no room. Furthermore the singer vocals are horrible and should be worked on, All the songs still sound to same to me, they might have a different meaning and feeling to you but I stay where I stand. Finally having a hit isnt a gauge on talent but a "one hit wonder" here in the states is a band that makes a few song on the charts and is never heard from again except for Behind the Music on VH1 when their 40, coked out and broke this is my prediction, it happens to alot of artist and musicians. Also what made you jump only on my post when most of the previous posters despise the band too??

I think they make good music, but if anyone here has seen em live, MAN they suck! The singer is a total spaz live! Plus he always fucks up the guitar solos.

I personally don't mind their music, but I fucking hate their image and I despise Craig Nichols' attitude. He is such a fucking cunt. I don't listen to the album much anymore...they can gobble my knob.

THEY SUCK.
Sorry, can't stand them. I think they're pot-smoking poseurs who might have been able to play good if they didn't have such a shitty lead singer screaming gibberish into the microphone and making faces like he's about to terminally OD.
And their damn lyrics don't make any sense. Hope they disappear soon.

Sorry if I seemed like I was all full of piss and vinegar. I sometimes get all freaked out about the most insignificant bullshit. I'm not even that big a fan of The Vines. If you've heard the album though I honestly don't see how you can state with any conviction that all the songs sound the same. This is because...um...well...they don't. Sure some sound similar but none of them can be described as identical. As for the rest of your statement...well, only time will tell. If they do disappear it'll be because the rest of the band get sick of Craig Nicholl's constantly acting like a complete arse and split up. Sorry again if I seemed to jump only on your post. The reason I responded to yours was because it was the last one posted when I had a look at the thread. Peace. :D

NAY. They are Nirvana wannabes, and all Craig Nichols does is wail and scream. He also tries to look "cool" in those magazine photos, but he really looks like a stupid idiot.

C'mon...even some of their detractors must admit that their new single Homesick is a pretty cool song. It's been getting a shitload of play on MTV2 in the UK and although I haven't listened to Highly Evolved for a while I feel like trawling though the hundreds of CDs I own to find it and give it a play right now.

Well, I personally think they are an awesome group. I actually saw them in concert not too long ago. It was really cool until they came back out and started playing again and it kind of started to get boring and craig nicholls was always throwing his guitar around and stuff. The opening band (the Music) was actually better than them. But don't get me wrong, they were still awesome to see live.
