View Full Version : The best "little-seen" movies of 2002!
What are some of the best movies of 2002 that hardly anyone saw...
Here's mine:
PUMPKIN
CHERISH (This movie is really enjoyable, but hardly anyone has seen it. I'd give it a 7/10 (B)...)
KISSING JESSICA STEIN (Sort of, but not completely. A lot of people have seen it, yet a lot of people haven't. Due to its subject matter though, this has reached a wide audience, but still not as big as it deserves.)
THE DANGEROUS LIVES OF ALTAR BOYS
LOVELY & AMAZING

I was going to include it, but then I didn't because it at least got a wide release and is sure to gain a huge following on video. But I guess there's no harm in including it:

The number one movie more people need to see is KISSING JESSICA STEIN (my favorite movie of 2002).
DANGEROUS LIVES OF ALTAR BOYS, PUMPKIN and ONE HOUR PHOTO also deserved more recognition.

My third best film of 2002 (and what was number 1 for a long time) is a film that never broke the top 10 at the box-office and I haven't seen on any critic's top 10 lists or nominated in awards ceremonies, Igby Goes Down. Likewise, Moonlight Mile has been unfairly snubbed by critics and moviegoers, despite it being one of the best films of the year featuring an Oscar-worthy performance by Susan Sarandon (the best supporting actress of the year) and 2002's best soundtrack.

I have to disagree with you...I for one was sorely dissapointed.
I was genuinely looking forward to this flick...but I felt completely unmoved throughout, and the sight of Zellweger's pasty ribcage was enough to put me off me popcorn. Christ WOMAN, get a steak & kidney pie down your neck.

Top spot definetly has to go to The Man From Elysian Fields (9/10) my fourth best of the year and one of the most intelligent, funny, mature, well-written and well-acted movies in years, yet I don't know anyone who has seen it and I didn't see it on any end of year best-of lists of critics, nor did it garner any awards. A shame really, it's an excellent little gem.
