Less than jake is a good punk/ska band
rx bandits- get there first cd (not progress) it kicks ass
Naked n' Happy- wow!! ska/punk/hardcore (number #1 in my books) they broke up but they were all 18, 19 year olds and the girl saxaphone player is hot!!!
Long Beach Dub All-stars (members of sublime) mix of punk/ska/reggae
Sublime
The slackers (good old fun ska)
Mad Caddies - punk/ska-wicked live
That's all i can think of for now, i'll post more later!

I myself love Reel Big Fish. Whenever I feel down, I can rely on them to bring me back up because the music is fun and happy stuff, even if it is ridiculous at times...oh boy I do love it very very much.

You'd really be doing yourself a favor to start listening to New York Ska some. It's more traditional w/out as much of the 'punk' influence that California Ska has...here's some suggestions you'll LOVE! Enjoy!
1. Madness (rejuvenators of ska)
2. The Specials (the original ska-lords)
3. The Toasters
4. Mephiskapheles (the darker side of ska)
5. The Dancehall Crashers (killer female vocals)
6. The Scofflaws (my all-time ska favorites)
7. The Skalars (wonderful band out of St Louis)
8. Mustard Plug
9. The Pietasters
These are the best...get back and tell me what you think. Download "doomsday" by Mephiskapheles right away! Incredible stuff.

Mephiskapheles is a great band but maybe one of the worst bands I ever saw live their show dissapointed me so much. Bumble tuna is a classic though!
Good Ska:
Less Than Jake
Operation Ivy
The Aquabats
SlapStick
Skankin Pickle
Lets go bowling
The Toasters
The selector
Dance hall crashers old stuff
Hepcat
MU330
I grew up in the 3rd wave ska comeback scene it was the only chance I ever had to watch a small movement of music slowly grow until it became a huge phenomena. I still can't get over the day when I saw buck o nine on mtv :)

Actually Movie Maniac, Sublime has ska influence but I don't feel they are actually a ska band. California ska (early No Doubt, Sublime, etc) is actually a hybrid of punk and ska and doesnt sound much like true ska. The Specials are the best example of what ska was originally...ska was around before reggae and sounds it.
