I've read reviews of both of these, and heard that they take the visuals beyond good taste. I'm interested in seeing one or the other, although Anthro 2000 is just a remake of Anthropophagus. Anyone, I like the basic plot device, trap a bunch of people in the middle of nowhere with a psycho who's a cut above the rest. I'm just wondering if anyone has seen either of them, how bad they really are, and if they are available anywhere.

Anthropophagus The Beast was a notorious movie which was around in the mid to late 80s.
It's bloody awful . The only claim to fame it has is the gore which is done so cheaply you'd be better staring at a butchershop window.I've never heard of the other one.

************* Possible Spoilers *************
Antropophagus was made in the 80's by Itialian director Joe D'Amato, some of his other creations:
House of Anal Perversions
Erotic Nights of the Living Dead
Porno Holocaust
Troll 2
Antropophagus 2
And many, many more.
As far as the original, I thought it would have been more to my liking, but other than a couple of scenes it was run of the mill. The uncut version is famous or infamous for the fetus eating scene, and the final scene.
It was followed by Antropophagus 2 which is pretty much more of the same.
As far as Anthropophagous 2000 it is directed by Andreas Schnaas who brought us Violent Shit trilogy, and I have not seen it yet so I can't really comment on it.
I believe that Blackestheart.com has them.

I've been wanting to see the infamous "edible fetus" scene for ages, but I doubt that the film itself is worth hunting down for that sequence alone.

I have the uncut version of Anthropophagous: The Beast (original version). I agree that it is not spectacular, but it's worth seeing. The fetus eating scene is sort of gross, but there are other decent scenes too like when he punches a hole through the ceiling of an attic and pulls this woman's head and neck through, tearing the hell out her neck. It also has the end scene where he eats his own guts.
If you are interested, you can get a copy through me. I do legal dubs and can send you a copy if you'd like.

I just recently heard about this movie (the original) and was wondering if it's worth watching? It was recently re-released on DVD in its full uncut form.

Holy Blast from the past.
Either way, this is one of the few D'Amato Films I actually enjoyed. Pretty entertaining stuff.

I own the cut version "The Grim Reaper" on VHS. Holy bat shit did it blow....maybe the crucial missing 7-8 minutes can save it but I doubt it.

I have the uncut version of the original. It`s pretty snore-inducing. Don`t bother. And the infamous 'fetus' scene is not nearly as shocking as it sounds.
