The Shining vrs A Clockwork Orange.

Which of these two cinematic greats would you pick as your favorite. I have to give my mark over to the shining but it was seriously tough to pick between them.


The shinig is one of those movies I can watch over nad over and over agin. Jack can still make me smile and get freaked out at every turn. Plus the scenes with the camera following danny on his trike have to be some of the best shots in movie history.

A clockwork Orange is genius in my eyes. This movie makes me think for hors after I see it. Its a statement on human Nature and ethics that i don't think any other movie will ever touch upon like this one did. *sniff* but alas I still had to go with the shining.

Hmmm. Tough call. The movies aren't really comparable. Aside from Kubrick, they really have nothing in common.

I guess I'm of two minds on the subject. I enjoy watching the Shining more, but I feel that A Clockwork Orange is the more sophisticated film.

For me it's not that difficult of a question..

Kubrick versus Kubrick? Well..
But McDowell versus Nicholson? It's gotta be Jack..

Some flicks have great replay value, while others, though great flicks do not.. or at the least, once in a great while are they worth seeing again.

I choose The Shining over CWO.

Both are great movies but I'll have to go with A Clockwork Orange.

I like Jack better than Malcolm, but I think ACO is the far superior film.

I think Clockwork Orange is a much more important film than The Shining and has alot more magic.

Well, I personally don't think the Shining is a truly great film. I think it's good, excellent perhaps, but not great. I'd certainly lean toward A Clockwork Orange, as being one of the 3 great films that Kubrick made.

A Clockwork Orange, its the greatest movie of all time. The Shining rocks too, in fact I'm lookinfg at jack nicholsons enlarged face tacked up on my wall. wild.:cool: :cool: :cool:

heh. This reminds me of an old t-shirt I used to have. It was a red shirt with a black silk-screen of Jack's 'crazy face' from the Shining. You all know which face I'm talking about. In the background the entire rest of the shirt had "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" typed on it. Man I miss that shirt.

Wow. Back then I prefered THE SHINING.

But now, A CLOCKWORK ORANGE takes the cake. Both are great films, while ACO is in my top 20, THE SHINING wouldn't crack the top 100.

Both fantastic films and definately in my top 20. I think I have to go with A Clockwork Orange, though. I'll never hear "Singing in the Rain" quite the same again.
