I like this song, and I think its a nice change from all this Slipknot and all sorts of "Mummy never loved me" music, its nice and happy. I honestly (no pun intended) like this, what do you lot think? Have you heard of it yet?

PS. I thought I've seen that bassit, before, its Paz from A Perfect Circle!! :D

I'm really looking forward to hearing this. I'm likely gonna buy the album (I think it's out in the UK this week or next). If you noticed my Smashing Pumpkins thread then you'll know that i'm a huge fan of Corgan's previous band. So far everything i've read about Zwan has been positive.

I'm looking forward to getting this album as well. I've downloaded a few of their songs and they sound pretty good. Looks like Billy has himself another great band on his hands.

Does anyone have a boot of the album yet? Any good? Tell me EVERYTHING!

I'm a little reluctant to download anything from the new album except for the single..Jeees, then its saving up lunch money..

I think if they get the proper marketing they could turn the state of music on its ear. Zwan's got a front man thats recognizable to the masses and their music from what I've heard is really good. Please god let them be a flag ship to help bring more good music back on the airwaves. Pretty please with cherries on top.

Yeah, I've actually heard that Billy-boy wants to take a popp-ier approach to his music this time around... man, he knows how to work the masses. I'm just scared that his reputation is ruined.. :(

I've downloaded a few of their songs as well and I'm quite impressed, they have unbelievably high potential (just look at who their lead vocalist is). I hope they are marketed well, because otherwise, they could be a pricey failure.

Well, I listened to "Honestly," and it didn't really do much for me. Not an embarrassing tune at all, but it just didn't click with me. Can anyone recommend another Zwan song (heh, swan song) that might enthrall me?

yeah, i've had MSOTS for about two weeks now (downloaded it off the net  ) i like it alot, i've listened to it about 12 times. they have great potential, i mean the album kicks ass, and it's there first one. they seemed to be happier as a band then the pumpkins did, which is always good. the BEST song on the album is the 14 minute track Jesus I/Mary Star Of The Sea. at first people might be turned off, given the religeous lyrics. but it is so fucking awesome! VERY trippy by the end, i dunno it's jsut so great! i love smokeing some of the good herb and listning to this cd, everyone who likes corgan should pick it up, serriously. now i just need them to come back to Toronto and i'm set!

I just want to know how different can this band be than Smashing Pumpkins? Its pretty much the same people included, with the same singer/writer. I cant say Ive heard anything other than a quick 15 seconds of the single and Im not knocking it at all. I just wonder why all the fuss over "ending" the Pumpkins when the same people get together sans the name?

It's only two of the members of the pumpkins with three other members from bands including A Perfect Circle.

I got my copy of Mary Star of the Sea in the mail today. I popped it in as soon as I could. I'm listening to it right now and am five songs into it. So far I am very pleased with it. You can defenitely see the similarities between them and Pumpkins but there also many differences. Zwan has a more pop sound to them. I'm very impressed with their first album.

Isnt it 3? Billy, the guitarist, and the drummer?

No, it's just Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlain who are from the Pumpkins.

Yep. In fact, she left APC to devote herself to these guys (Zwan).

I haven't heard them yet, but I'll probably download the single later. If I do, I'll report back here.

I just got the album yesterday, and I`ve been listening to it a lot. I think it`s great, kinda like the tripumphant return of Billy Corgan.
The Pumpkins are probably my favorite band ever. When they broke-up I was kinda sad, but deep down I knew it was coming. On "Machina" the band sounded bored, and as a result the album sounded hollow and by-the-numbers. It seems like after "Adore" was rejected by the public and the fans alike (though I liked it personally), the band tried to be too 'mainstream'. "Machina" sounded wayyy too studio-polished and clean. It just didn`t have the 'oomph' of the band`s past work.

After "Machina" I was afraid that Billy had lost "it".
But folks, "it" is definetly back with Zwan.

A lot of reviewers on Amazon are saying that it sounds nothing like the Pumpkins. I disagree, I think it sounds VERY MUCH like the Pumpkins, albeit the early Pumpkins of "Gish", "Siamese Dream", and "Piesces Iscariot".
In fact, I even think Billy could`ve gotten away with just calling this the new Pumpkins album, instead of a new band altogether.
Just think of it as the Pumpkins with a major personnel change. Remember how many times The Cure dropped and added members? But they were still always The Cure, with a definetive sound. That`s how I feel about Zwan, it`s very much the same 'vibe' as the Pumpkins.
Listen to "El Sol" and "Ride A Black Swan", and tell me you couldn`t see the Pumpkins playing them.

I`ll go so far as to say that if you miss the older Pumpkins (before they got too electronic), you should definetly like this record.

There are a few songs I don`t like because they`re too sappy (like "Of A Brojen Heart"), but for the most part this is a great album.

P.S. - countchocula, "Honestly" is not even one of the album`s strongest songs IMO.

yeah, honestly isn't one of the best songs on the album, IMO either. I've heard it enough now, however i do like Of A Broken Heart but i fell in love with that song a WHILE back, when i saw them live. still a great cd, just mroe up beat then pumpkins stuff such as Mellon Collie...

either way, they're much better then the badns out there now, talent wise. It might not be your type of music, but it's getting hard just to find a guitar solo that lasts more then 15 seconds these days. I love some of the solos on this cd, even the one in honestly is great, but i'm a 16 year old hippie, so waht do i know.

Plus i use way too many commas when i write!

I think my favorite songs off the album so far are Lyric, Settle Down, and Declerations of Faith. Incidently those are the first three songs on the album. These really show Billy talents as a musician and song writer. I've had the cd in my car player for the past 3 days and it won't come out for a while.

Im slightly disappointed with this CD. I expected Smashing Pumpkins too much I guess. The first 3 songs, you can barely hear what hes saying. Oh well.

BUMP

Come on!!! I urge any and all former Pumpkinheads to check out this album.

P.S. - To those of you who`ve heard the album, is it just me or do half the songs seem directed towards (or about) God and discovering faith?
I`m thinking particularly about "Lyric" and "Honestly", which could actually be construed as a hymn. Think about it, "There`s no place that I could be without you/It`s too far to discard the life that I once knew/I feel loved/Honestly..."
And to a lesser extent, "Ride A Black Swan".

This certainly isn`t what I was expecting from Billy Corgon, but I actually think it`s COOL! He`s in a mainstream "supergroup" and he`s unashamed to express his faith.

Well, Billy has always had a thing with faith and religion. It does seem like he's pointing a lot of his lyrics either toward a love interest or towards God. It could go either way I think. But, then you get to the 14 minute track Jesus,I:Mary Star Of The Sea and he as far as I can tell pretty much compares himself to Jesus.

Elgyn

I know he made references to God or faith on many Pumpkins songs, but it seems different now.

I bought the zwan album a while ago, and I really liked it. It's obviously not as good as almost everything the pumpkins did, but it is still an awesome album.

And, as an added bonus, I am seeing them in about two weeks. I absolutely cannot wait, since I'm gonna be around five feet away from BILLY CORGAN!!! (It's a pretty small place). I'm f***ing psyched.

"Endless Summer" is my favorite. I made my own music video to it. "Yeah" sounds like Everclear, who rule, what with the chiming guitar notes. "Ride A Black Swan" is unbelievable. I love the last song too, "Come With Me", sounds like something Neil Young would do and it's a nice conclusion. First time I heard it I was like "Why did they do that?" and now it's probably in my top three.

I finally saw them, and I can just say one thing.....best concert ever. Billy Corgan still knows how to rock. The first song was my favorite that they played, it was jesus i/mary star of the sea. Jimmy Chamberlain had a short drum solo, and Billy had like a five minute solo. They had two encores also (the first I could have done without but the second was awesome). They also played a new song that's gonna be on the Djali Zwan album. I think it was called friends and lovers. But, all in all, it was so awesome!!:D
