View Full Version : Radio Stations Ignoring my Requests
What's up with that? I've called a local radio station twice last week and both times the DJ said he'd play it, but he never did. I took the time to call then he never plays my song. :( Has that ever happened to anyone? Could he have been ignoring me or could their have just been so many requests?

They get a million requests. There's no way they could play all of them.
I've always been convinced that they only play a requested song if it happens to be the one that was already on their playlist. They know what they're going to play already. They just ask for people to call in to give the illusion that they are respecting the listener's requests.

Get over it, or make your own radio station.

I'm a pain in the ass to the DJ's at the University Radio Station..
I'm always calling in with ridiculous requests...
Last song I got played was by The Smiths. God, I love the Smiths.

Romero,
Morrissey and the Smiths should be enshrined in gold in the "Museum for the Perpetually Manic Depressive." In other words they kick ass.

oh, I knooooow..!! I'm falling for the Smiths in a BIIIGG way...
I was only introduced to them a short while ago, when a friend of mine left a mixed tape at my house with a Smiths song on it.. I think because he didn't leave a track list, the anonymous morrisey moaning kinda piqued some sort of interest.. Turns out it was "William, it was really nothing.." I ran out and bought Louder than bombs that week.
Every time I listen to them I get gayer and sadder.. its great!

Romero check out the Smiths Dvd. It is as cheesy as you can get with morrissy and Co. Living it up at Top of the pops and other cheesy venues. Its great.
I am convinced the DJ on my radio station has a burnt Memorex CD with 5 songs on it, and maybe 5 different remixes of those songs on another.

A good friend of mine worked as a DJ at a college radio station. I was sitting in with him one day when he received a call requesting some obscure song. My DJ friend was like 'sure man, awesome request, Ill play it as soon as I can, thanks for calling' he then hung up the phone, looked at me and said 'ya right, theres no way Im gonna play that song'. He then went on to explain that most radio stations have a set list of songs they can play. He is only allowed one or two off-list picks per shift. So in reality, your request will only make it on air during specialty segments (like local music hour) or if you are requesting a song they were gonna play anyways. Furthermore when you hear the DJ introduce a song on the radio by saying that this next song is a request, he is probably just making that up so that it sounds like they take requests. When I asked why he lied to the guy on the phone, the DJ said that its just easier to lie than to explain to the caller that there is no way in hell that his song will get played.
So I said radio sucks you corporate bitch!

AMEN! I will not bother calling in anymore, but radio helps the day go bye faster. Or else I'd never listen.
