MY GOD!! Kathy Bates has got to be one of the greatest actresses there is. She's totally convincing in every film she's ever done, she's a flawless actress and she always brings such charisma to the characters she plays. I was watching MISERY today and I just had to start a thread about her. It's been so long since I watched that movie but she's still creepy as hell in it and I shudder when she loses her temper. Annie Wilkes is someone you love to hate. I love her more and more now, I have yet to see About Schmidt but I do not doubt that she did an excellent job in the movie. She can do no wrong.

What do you guys think of her?

Yeah! Her nude scene in About Schmidt is the greatest ever! A fine actress. I dig her intensity and bravery.

One of the few (if not only) actresses that I can say have NEVER disappointed me. She was even outstanding in The Waterboy. She is the only thing that made Misery good, James Caan sucked. Can't wait to see About Schmidt.

The only other actress I can think of that has never been bad is Frances McDormand.

Her nude scence in About Schmidt caught me by suprised!!!:D Ms Bates is a VERY talented actress , she was also the shits in Primary Colors. She is a rarity who can switch on & off with emotions of happy to I hate ur frickin guts in a second.

Many critics are acting like this is her FIRST nude scene. Her first nude scene was in "At Play in the Fields of the Lord"... she played a woman who lost her sanity.... and her clothes.;)

Kathy Bates has always been my favorite actress of all time. I first noticed her in Dolores Claiborne. I thought she was great, and soon became a favorite of mine. I really enjoyed her in Fried Green Tomatoes, Angus, and especially in Misery!

Agreed. She truly is a joy to watch, and the roles she chooses are seemingly always incredibly groovy.

I always said that if she had a different physique, she would have been noticed and given the acclaim she deserves....and had non-stop leading lady roles.

I think she is always superb! I heard About Schmidt was just so-so, but Kathy is amazing as ever. I will see it for her alone!!!

Great actress, but is often overlooked for those more pleasing on the eyes. She seems to have a lot of confidence in being a woman of her size and doing nude scenes so she gets props for that.

Kathy Bates one of my favorites, love her pluck and emotional range from sweet to psycotic, and my favorite of her's is Dolores Claiborne, alot of range of emotion and she the star, also great in Misery, also loved her in Fried Green Tomatoes and Primary Colors.
