As some of you may know, the very beautiful Aaliyah was set to play the part of Zee for The Matrix: Reloaded, and The Matrix: Revolutions. But that plan was shot when she tragically died in a plane crash.

Nona Gaye, famous for her late father Marvin Gaye, is to play Zee. She's pretty much a nobody, expect for "Ali".

The question is...do you think Nona Gaye can pull it off? Or do you wish that the part was still Aaliyah's?

I trust The Wicashawalo-i-can't-spell-their-name brothers with their choice of Nona Gaye, though i believe that Aaliayah could have done a fabulous job had she live today :(. From what we hear if the time consuming shooting for the sequals is not enough to fill Larry and Andy's plate it is the re-casting of a main character after a great actor shot some footage already (and figuring out what to do with the Oricle in Revelation)...

It's pretty hard to say. Mrs. Gaye will surely do a good job in the part--the filmmakers would not have cast her otherwise. Yet...no matter how well she plays the character, people will keep thinking, "what if Aaliyah was still alive? Would she do a better job?" It's not a position I envy.

I think Nona Gaye (your dad was a grrrrreeat artist, babe) will pull the job off just fine. Maybe Aaliyah woulda done a better job, maybe not, maybe just a different one -- we'll never know, so let's not waste our time with "what if?"'s.

I could not have said it better myself. ;) I agree with every word of that statement, along with the nod to the great Marvin Gaye.

grrrrreeat is only the beginning!!!!!! the man was absolutely phenomenal, but i digress.

nona gaye should be fine in the role. i think everyon in the 1st one did a fine job, so i don't see how the w. (won't even try to spell it) brothers would go wrong here.
