*Warning: May be spoilers.....maybe.*
The ending of the ring is really dumb. They swear like were gonna get scared cuz we watched the movie. Thats Corny.
The ending to Jason takes Manhattan was obviously gay and made no sense. He shoulve killed th dog too. :D
So what endings would you have changed or think are dumb?

i personally think the original ending for dawn of the dead is more appropriate for the mood and romero's style.
too bad we'll never get to see it.

If I could change one ending, I'd change se7en. Dont get me wrong, I loved the entire movie, and the ending, but I have one idea that I think would make the movie even more twisted. And here it is......
***************SPOILER FOR SE7EN********************
At the end when detective Mills, Detective Sommerset and John Doe are in the field, and the delivery van drives up with a box.
Sommerset opens the box. Looks in it, and says "what the fuck?"
Cut to the field where Detective Mills has a gun to John Doe, and John Doe begins to talk, and gives him the same lines: "I dropped by your house today, after you left, to visit your wife. I wanted a souvenier. I took her pretty little head. " Sommerset runs over, knowing Doe is trying to fuck with his head, and yells out "dont listen to him". Detective Mills shoots John Doe, just like in the movie. What I would have changed though, is show the box, but showing it having been opened and being empty inside. John Doe didnt cut off his wife's head, he didnt even try, he just wanted to fuck with Mills mind and make him think he did, showing just how messed up and controlling he is.

Voorhees that's actually a pretty smooth idea, though I can't see Morgan Freeman saying 'what the fuck'

Anywho, I've said this many times before but ... "Signs." Dumb, dumb, dumb ending. I would have like to have seen it more like The Twilight Zone episode, "The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street." Now that's a deep and insightful story.
Voorhees, nothing against your idea, but why would that have made a better ending? I think it would have lost the impact if it was all a ruse. Think about it -- John Doe's dead, and Mills goes to jail for awhile, but, really, nothing's been lost. There's no tragedy, and Sommerset staying on the force instead of retiring would have been not only meaningless but nonsensical. I'm not busting your chops, V, I'm just saying the ending the movie delivered, to me, set it far above typical serial-killer flicks.

The only horror film I would like to change the ending of is 'Gates Of Hell' - it just never made any sense to me.

Simply put, the gate was still open. Everyone thinks everything is okay, but at the last minute that preternatural wind begins to blow, and then reality shatters -- literally.

Cool! That's a more interesting explanation than the one I came up with: *HIGHLIGHT*
I thought the kid running towards them was a zombie, but that was slightly scuppered by the fact that he didn't exhibit the typical fulci-esque zombie mannerisms......
You got any insights into the ending of 'The House By The Cemetery' ??? That was another one that knocked me for six....

Voorhees...
*** Se7en Spoiler ***
If that ending worked, it would have been called 6ix, for wasn't his wife the 6th of the 7 deadly sins murders? There would have to be some re-working there... perhaps Brad Pitt's character becoming the 7th victim by being sentenced to death?
That's far off though, I doubt any jury would convict him...

LOL! Funny, DeadWalk.
Sorry, Klown, it's been so long since I've seen "House" I can barely remember what happened. If I remember correctly (highlight)doesn't it end with everyone dead and the kid walking off with a ghost, suggesting that he died in the basement too? That might not even be the same movie. Like I said, it's been a long time.

Hey Night Watchman... How did that particular twilight zone episode end?
the night watchman
02-02-2003, 10:12 PM
Highlight: In the episode a whole neighborhood begins suspecting aliens are invading after the power is cut and other strange things begin to happen -- no other evidence, mind you, just unexplainable phenomena. Their suspicions stem from a kid who has read stories in science fiction comic books that describe an alien invasion with occurances similar to what is being observed on the block. They begin to suspect that one or more of the residence of the block my be an alien in disguise, and by the end the paranoia is so great everyone starts rioting and killing each other. The camera pans up to a hill where a spaceship sits, and two aliens are watching. It is revealed that their species is planning to take over the earth -- but they're going to use humanity against itself. All they need to do is scare us enough, and we'll destroy ourselves.

***SPOILERS FOR SE7EN***
There was another ending that was never shot, the people who have the double-disc DVD might know this. It goes the same as the same way almost till the end, but this time Somerset and Mills are both aiming at John Doe and Somerset pulls the trigger and kills Doe. Mills looks at Somerset, who replies "I'm retiring" and then the movie fades to black.
But I agree. They kept the best ending in the movie.

You're right enough with the film, night watchman. But (highlight)
the kid managed to squeeze out of the crack in the floor. I got the impression that perhaps Dr. Freudstein wasn't the thing in the basement, but it was the woman at the end - it never said if the Dr. was a man or a woman - only that there were experiments with immortality.......

Ah! Clever. I'll have to rent it sometime to check it out again.
By the way, you said you had another explanation for the ending of "Gates of Hell." What was it?

My interpretaion was: (highlight)
I always thought that the kid running towards them at the end was a zombie.......
Although this didn't really make much sense as the kid didn't exhibit the typical Fulci-esque zombie mannerisms (slow moving, heaving breathing & covered in GORE).

Yeah, the way the woman screams, you almost expect something like that to be revealed. I had to watch the ending three times before it made sense.

I'd change the ending to the original Nightmare On Elm Steet.
The rest of the film is class but i found the ending with Nancy's mum pretty dumb, it just seemed rushed

I think it was rushed, I heard New Line made Wes change it to a more sequel friendly ending.

thats one i liked. the way everything was bright and tranquil, then the red and green top comes up on the convertable and freddy's hand comes out and grabs nancy's mom.
as much as i like the sequals, it could ahve been a great standalone with that ending. you know freddy's still there.

I agree with Toxie. I like the unresolved feeling that Freddy dwells in fear ... and you can't escape fear.

Ok, I've thought it over for my alternate ending for se7en..
After shooting john doe, mills then shoots himself because he thinks his wife had been murdered. That way there is the same level of tragedy, there are 7 murders (or at least deaths) and Sommerset realizes that John Doe can manipulate Mills amy way he wanted to. The main reason that I liked this movie was that they had created the perfect villain. Just like the joker from batman, not only is he brutal and unsympathetic, but he can fuck with the hero's head. After all, isnt that whats really important?

you may have ruined the ending for some of the schmoes, Toxe. anyway, i feel the ending to Halloween Ressurection could have been A LOT better.
SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
when i see a movie i usually want to see something original. paying homage is good, but having the same old scenes bores me quite a lot. the ending to Halloween Ressurection when Michael opens his eyes is a very played concept. that was more predictable than the weather these days. what if they payed homage to Halloween & took shots of the areas he'd been in. OR, even better! how about having the old school halloween beats going when he made his kills. that'd be fun.

I'd make the ending to VALENTINE slightly clearer, as well as keep the original closing showing Jeremy Melton ripping out the yearbook pictures of other potential female victims.
I'm not sure how, but I'd also change the ending to URBAN LEGEND, give it more of a supernatural feel and take out the putrid cheese!
