View Full Version : Sundance movie to confusing from Britney Spears????

I was watching Ebert and Roper this morning, and they said that Britney Spears walked out of a movie at Sundance. Saying it was too "confusing". Ebert then said that her movie was too confusing.
I find this quite funny, because it makes her look like she can't handle a little good movie. On the other hand, it could have been confusing, but I guess she seemed to be the only one who walked out.
Anyone care to discuss?

The movie was Robert Downey Jr.'s The Singing Detective and I read in a coupla articles that a number of people other than Britney walked out as well, not just her........

Now she knows how I felt when I was at CROSSROADS...I think I spent more time looking at the exit sign than the mess unfolding on the screen.

. . . Britney was later embarassed to discover what she was actually "watching" was a sign listing the admission prices . . .

This was her quote, I believe:
"The official line is we had our schedules mixed up, so we had to leave, but I didn't like the movie... Sundance is weird. The movies are weird - you actually have to think about them when you watch them."

(slaps forehead)
Jesus Christ! And some dolt of a reporter had the balls to describe her as "The Voice of a Generation"
Pardon me, but you better not be referring to my generation, or more importantly ME.
This one almost goes up there with Christina Aguilera's "Where's the Cannes Film Festival held?"
I need to go somewhere and regain my composure.

Well no kidding, that means the movie is doing what it's supposed to do! Spears must not understand the industry.
She'd probably get confused at The Care Bears Movie.

This says more about the "reporter" than about this generation..(I hope)..Who was this numbskull?

I wish I could remember. I guess the quote stuck in my head better than the reporter because, as Lewis Black said, when you hear something like that your brain comes to a screeching halt.
I have a feeling that it was actually a prominent television reporter, like from ABC or NBC.

I remember hearing about that reporter too. For some reason I keep thinking it's Diane Sawyer, but I don't think so.

All those other people leaving were her vast entourage.
From what I understand, Reg'lar Bob Redford ain't too happy with all of this. She apparently made quite a disturbance before she left, jabbering on cellphones, etc.
This is a PERFECT EXAMPLE of why potential SUNDANCE/CANNES film goers should be required to take a MOVIE IQ TEST before being allowed in..... what the FUCK was Brittany Spears doing there????
RULES:
You must watch Mullholland Drive at least twice, and be able to describe in 5 lines at least 75% of the flick... it CAN be done.
You MUST know who the Director for Citizen Kane was.
You MUST know what famous person Citizen Kane is BASED ON.
You must be able to describe in 50 words or less what an INDEPENDENT film IS.
I FUCKING HATE AND DESPISE STUPID people who are RICH & SUCCESSFUL.

Sounds like something the mainstream would say.

By the way, it wasn't "The Singing Detective", it was "Levity". And and her entourage took up three rows of seats and jabbed on their cells through the first 50% of the movie before walking out.
Fucking stupid bitch. I HATE Britney Spears.

They shouldn't have let her into Sundance in the first place.

Why exactly was she in the Sundance Film Festival anyways? She didn't have a movie playing there, her only movie wasn't really a movie, and she has the IQ of a grapefruit. And yet, a normal, mostly intelligent person like myself or the average Schmoe isn't even able to get in?

She's only there for photo ops and to keep her name in the public eye. Since she doesn't have an album out or and isn't touring she needs to keep herself as visible as possible or else people will forget her before her next album comes outand she'll end up in obscurity. (Oh to dream!)
Just look at her outing with Colin Farrell at the premiere of The Recruit. That entrance alone will have her name on people's tongues for months.
A lot of Sundance, now, is populated by celebrities doing the same thing. That's why you see a lot of people there who aren't even attached to a movie at the festival.
It's all about publicity and keeping your name out in society. However if you're gonna go to Sundance just for the publicity, have some fucking respect for the people who actually attend the festival for its original purpose.

"She was probably there to keep her image up"
Funny thing is, I bet NOBODY who attends a Sundance Film Festival would be the type to waste money on her shit music. ;)

*Sigh*
Whatever happened to the Class of '92? Isn't it still alive at Sundance?

[QUOTE]You serious?
As serious as a heart attack.
It was after she guested on SNL. After the show, that's what she asked the cast.

This reminds me of the singer Avril Lavigne when she mispronouced David Bowie's last name at The Grammy Nominations. Her quote when asked about it was something like "How could I know of him? He was playing before I was born."
You would think if you are going into a profession you would know something about that profession's history, buy I guess these girls forgot about that.

True, but it's all these cookie-cutter ex-Mousketeers that are to blame. In this case Cerchez La Femme doesn't cover it all. (Feel free to correct my Gallic spelling if necessary...where's Logan, he could help...)
Does anyone think Justin Timberlake could pick Al Green or Jackie Wilson out of a lineup?
(Dave got called BOW-ie on The Young Ones when Neil flew past the space capsule...remember?)

Being too young is not an excuse, and is usually a BAD one.
I remember Nancy O'Dell asking George Clooney where he got the name for his production company "Section Eight". When he asked her, "Do you remember M.A.S.H.? (tv show)" she goes "I was too young."
I'm younger than Nancy O'Dell and I know M.A.S.H.! And she works in ENTERTAINMENT.
Never use your age as an excuse, I never have. Just tell'em you haven't been exposed to whatever people are referring to yet.
Don't hide behind your number, it unjustly bounds the rest of us who are that age in the same realm of stupidity, and I'll be damned if someone has me associated with stupid without my permission.

Somehow ignorance has acquired a patina of cool in the last 20 years or so. There's a certain bonding quality about being proud of not knowing what anyone is talking about, and acting as if it's wholly irrelevant.

Which is why, if anything Darwin said is true, those people will be phased out in the next evolutionary cycle.
Making excuses for being dumb only perpetuates stupidity, and that needs to get nipped in the bud by either God or Nature, and I ain't too picky about which one gets the credit.

You see, Britney becomes confused several times in a day. Even when doing such simple activities as turning on the shower in the morning, applying toothpaste to her toothbrush, pouring cereal into a bowl, hooking up her bra (he mother still does it), lighting cigarettes, and opening a book (to put cigarettes out on of course, Britney Spears cannot read)

WTF was Britney doing at The Sundance Festival anyway? She's a one trick pony with her career slowly draining away. But I still can't believe that Christina Aguilera quote.
Nearly as good as Donna Air (talentless presenter in the UK) asking how The Corrs met! God I hope she was joking...didn't look like it.

I still can't get over the fact she was introduced as "Recoding Artists and Actress Britney Spears" first Britney is not an Artist she's a singer(and not a really good one either) real "Recording Artists and Actresses" are people like Bette Midler,Cher and the late great Judy Garland. Don't get me wrong some musicans can be great actors or actresses like Will Smith,Meatloaf,Ice-T(he's good on Law &Order:SVU), and Mandy Moore.Elvis and the Beatles may not have been the best actors in the world but they were great musicans and their movies were always enjoyable. Madonna is an incredible performer but her acting is hit or miss, Courtney Love is a better actress and singer that Britney is. Hell even the Spice Girls are better actresses that Britney is.
...and this is coming from a girl who just let fred durst lick a dirty part of her body?! hmm...
