This is the auto biography by Bruce Campbell I have only got halfway through it so far and I must say it is a very good read and definetly worth picking up. You get to find out about all the build up to the evil dead films and the struggle that the actors and crew went through to get them released all done in Bruce's own style very funny.

any one else read this? if not I strongly suggest buying it :)

Not maimed, but maybe corrected. I don't know who you've been talking to, but Bruce Campbell is one of the nicest, most professional people in the business. He's put up with a lot to further his career. I've met people down here in Oz who worked with him when he was working on Renaissance productions in New Zealand, and they had nothing but great stuff to say about him. He always has time for his fans, never too busy to sign an autograph or pose for a photo.

As for his autobiography...I got my copy off Amazon a few months ago, and shame on me haven't had the time to read it yet. But I've flipped through it and it's definitely more entertaining than your average "actor's memoirs". I'll definitely read it in depth as soon as I've finished the two Mike Nelson books I got with the same order.

My theory is he has to always deal with obsessive fanboys who think he's ash not bruce campbell,so i think he sometimes gets into character and then people just think he's being an asshole.

I met him at the first Fangoria Weekend of Horrors I attended, and he was really cool, especially, like some else might have pointed out, when you take into consideration how annoying some die-hard, no-life, dateless, livin'-with-mama fanboys out there can be.

Got my copy of 'If chins could kill' months ago. I read it and WOW! AWESOME, book. Totally cool. I've since then passed it along to some other Evil Deadites. So i don't even know where it is as of right, now. GREAT BOOK!

It always frightens me how some people act when it comes to celebrities, like those people dressing up like Jay & Silent Bob in the An Evening With Kevin Smith DVD; what the FUCK were they thinking? Or were they? Idiots R Us must have had a sale or something! Anyway, the book is very cool and the things Bruce must have to put up with probably eclipses what Kevin Smith sees (just check out the doc Bruce made in the Book of the Dead DVD). I love my movies, but would never dress up like someone else and actually go see them that way!

THis is my second favorite book of all time. A great read, and the fact that I think Bruce is awesome only cemented my appreciation of it. I swear, I've read the section about filming Evil Dead 20 times.

Wasn't there a guy in that doc who had made his own Boba Fett outfit? Damn, that was frickin' sweet.

Man, you're free to hate who ever you want. That's what's so great about this country. But I do have to agree with him. I've meet Bruce Campbell, and he spent three housrs signing autographs for us loyal fans. And when we got to his table, he sat us down, shook our ands and talked to each of us for a few minuets. From what I saw he was a really great guy. Especially considering how most celebrities treat fans.

I meant nothing by it. It was a joke that played off of your original response man. Mature comments yourself I must add... I'll edit the post because I realize its a bit too harsh and can be taken the wrong way.

It's been out for awhile, so long now that the copies they're selling on Amazon are updated with a final chapter where Campbell talks about "Chins Across America", his book-signing tour for the first edition.

If you can't find it, you could always do what I did and order a copy off Amazon. And they've got a special deal; if you order it with "The Evil Dead Companion", you get a dollar or two off the price of each book.

I've just been skimming through my copy again, and came across my favourite anecdote (if you need any more incentive to buy this book, it's packed with little stories like this one). Campbell and another American actor were flying down to Mexico, I think to start shooting "McHale's Navy". The actor he was with was famous in Spain and Mexico, and one of the Mexican stewardesses asked for his autograph. The guy took a 10 x 8 out of his briefcase to sign, then said "Wait a minute - I don't speak a word of Spanish. What should I write?"

Campbell told him "Just sign it 'Best Wishes, Senor Cohones'." (Translation: Mr. Testicles.)

"That sounds great! What does it mean?" the guy asked while he wrote it.

"It means you're a very strong man," Campbell told him, straight-faced.

The flight attendant bit back laughter when he handed her the signed photo. She took it to the galley to show the other flight staff; laughter could be heard coming from there. "Hey, my autograph's getting a really big reaction! They must really like me down here!" the actor beamed.

Campbell didn't tell the guy what he'd really written until they were going through Customs. The guy nearly killed him.
