LONDON (AP) - Rock star Courtney Love was arrested Tuesday as
she arrived at Heathrow airport on a trans-Atlantic flight, an
airline said.


Love had been ``verbally abusive'' to cabin crew during a Virgin
Atlantic flight from Los Angeles, a spokesman for the airline said.


TV channel Sky News showed pictures of Love being escorted by
two officers from the plane to a police van parked on the runway.
She smiled sheepishly at the camera and covered her face with her
hand before getting into the back of the van.


``She was verbally abusive toward our cabin crew and
disruptive,'' Virgin Atlantic's director of corporate affairs Paul
Moore said. The flight from Los Angeles landed at around 11 a.m.
local time.


London's Metropolitan Police said a 38-year-old woman had been
arrested for disruptive behavior and endangering an aircraft. She
was being questioned by officers at Heathrow after reports of a
passenger ``being generally disruptive, using abusive language and
refusing to sit down and put her belt on,'' a spokesman said.


No one on the Boeing 747, which carried 201 passengers and 20
crew, was injured in the incident.


Love, 38, is the widow of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, who
committed suicide in 1994, and the lead singer with rock group
Hole. She received a Golden Globe nomination for her part in the
1996 movie ``The People vs. Larry Flynt,'' in which she played the
wife of the porn entrepreneur.


Love had been due to attend a fund-raising event at London's Old
Vic theater on Wednesday along with Elton John and Kevin Spacey.

I've always intensely disliked Courtney "Hole". She's a spoilt rich brat smackhead who throws tantrums to get her way.

When Alex Cox was making the biopic "Sid and Nancy", Love aggressively campaigned to be given the role of Nancy Spungen (who she worships as a role model). A friend of mine who's a big Hole fan (God only knows why) went to see her perform several years ago in London. She accused my mate of stealing her necklace and got her minders to rough him up. When they were done working him over, she reached under her shirt and pulled the necklace out, revealing she was still wearing it. Then she smiled at the beaten and bruised guy. This woman's an evil bitch, pure and simple.

Holy shit! Now that is really fucked up of her to do. To have people beat the shit out of a fan is bad, but to then lie about a stolen necklace to get them beat up is just fucking sadistic.

Love said the incident had been exaggerated. On her release, she admitted she had sworn at a flight attendant but insisted there was little more to the incident than that.

"I cussed (swore) at a lady," she told reporters. "My daughter is always saying I had a potty mouth.

"I cussed at a lady named Mary. She wasn't letting my friend into first class so I said 'Why are you being a bitch about it'," Love said.

Asked how she felt about the incident she retorted: "How do you feel about your tax dollars being used for me saying don't be a bitch?"

She described the police as "wonderful" and, as she left, said "I'm now going to go and sit by the fire".

A police spokeswoman said they had released Love from custody and would not be pressing charges.


I'm really confused as to why people are always thinking the worst of her (granted - I'm biased cause I think she's a genius) :confused: It doesn't seem like such a major event although that's some shocking manners there :( It wasn't so long ago the whole country was cracking up at good ole Diana Ross doing something similar :)

I do agree with you: she was 100% out of line; I just don't really understand why she (and this in particular) is evoking such strong negative feelings :confused: Like I say, most people I know laughed about Diana Ross frisking a security guard at the airport - also something divaesque and completely out-of-line.
