Okay my couson who is a costume desiger is working on a movie with Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet. Well when Melissa (my couson) first meet her she was nice, but when they started filming all hell broke lose, Kate was yelling at her and everything telling her to get everything for her. I thought she would be a very kind person but I guess I was wrong.
P.S.
She said Jim Carrey is very nice.

Well, that isn't enough to change my views on her. I still think she is a great actress willing to take many risks--- which is something we need more of in todays film industry.

I agree with Corporal, nothing changes my opinion about her. And even if she is like that it wouldn't stop me from watching her movies. She's an actress, nothing more.

I still enjoy her work, and would have to be personally yelled at by her, or hear *loads* more information about her being bitchy to honestly think that she was a miserable, self-centered person. I'd hate to write her off for having a few bad days

I've heard quite a few stories about this particular gal (from people who have actually worked with her many years ago...) Apparently she has ALWAYS been difficult, despite the down-to-earth image. She is reputed to be a wee bit temperamental at the best of times.
Some more evidence...
-What the fuck happened with her marriage??? One week, Pie + Mash down the local tavern (Oh, the common touch) with the put-upon spouse...the following week she's shagging Mr Mendes (hot property), and glamming it up in Hollywood. They had barely been separated for fucking MINUTES!!! Who's left holding the baby I ask you???
-Remember the red-carpet charade at the Bafta's (the freshly shampooed carpet and the FOAMY entrance). Dame Judi Dench and Maggie Smith were mucking in with the best of 'em and there was Winslet fuming at her assistants with a face like a slapped arse. Winslet was heard to scream "This is a Ben De Lisl dress and it has been destroyed because of this horrible stuff on the carpet. Could someone please help..."??? Of course, Stephen Fry couldn't resist having a dig at her diva-like behaviour.
-Mick Jagger spoke out about Kate's "unreasonable" demands after making ENIGMA, he simply said that he couldn't tolerate actors who believed their own hype.
-The recent air-brushing allegations. Has everybody seen the photograph's!? Jesus, the HEAD is probably hers (I'm still rather suspicious about that mind), but the BODY!? Who does she think she is kidding??? The incredible thing is that Winslet gave both GQ and Vogue the green-light and now she has said that maybe they have gone too far (logical...hmmm, no...) I have no qualms about the woman losing weight, but for crying out loud...she spent the best part of the 90's harping on about how comfortable she was with her voluptuous figure (she even had the audacity to criticise women who dieted). Make up your mind luv...and puuuurlease, no more friggin' laughable touching-up.
God, I could go on all all night...
She has really put her husband (Once a successful assistant director, now a House-Husband btw) in a shitey position. She took the house, ALL the shit, the career...buggered him off after claiming HE was too demanding...and of course, she left him with BABY MIA. Very nice Kate...hope you manage to clinch that nice big house in LA.
Hmmm, I've NEVER been convinced by the "butter wouldn't melt" attitude and I certainly don't buy it these days. I don't HATE the woman, I think she is a very excellent young actress and she IS rather beautiful...but I do believe that she is rather underhand and manipulative, the PRESS love her and the public love her of course....after hearing A FEW different accounts from work-mates, and MANY showbiz rumours (only a small handful mentioned above) I can't say I'm overly fond of the young starlet!!!

Okay, if Jagger thinks you're making unreasonable demands...you probably are. He should know...

you know what, its nice to know that some people aren't perfect. but even IF kate is mean, i still like her movies.
i don't like the actors/actresses for their personalities, its their talent i like them for.

I didn't like her before, but now I love her and I don't care about her bitchy personality, she has talent and that's that. Same for Russell Crowe, his personality sucks, but I like him because of his talent.

Ditto. I don't know them in real life, so the cruddy personality is a minus, but not a terrible thing. As long as they keep giving magnificent performances as they usually do, it's all good.

I must have missed all these "wonderful performances" Katie girl has provided us with.
She probably is a stuck up, diva bitch.
She's another "whatever".

If you did, it'd probably be a completely different situation. Russell Crowe, for example, treats his friends like gold, and most of the time is good to his fans, he just gets a bit shirty with the press and co-workers.
I always put Kate Winslet's previous bad behaviour down to her marriage break-up, but I guess I was wrong. The only recent time I heard of her behaving badly was when she was having dinner in a restaurant with friends and a woman approached her and asked for her autograph, to which she happily obliged. The woman then asked if she could take her picture. Winslet replied "Please, I'd rather you didn't, I'm having dinner right now." (Understandable, no one likes to be photographed shovelling food in their mouth.) The woman then whipped out her camera and started snapping away. Kate threw her fork down, stormed into the Ladies' Room and refused to come out until the woman was evicted from the restaurant.
(PS: BVC, the first time I saw the famous GQ pic in a local mag, I thought "BLIMEY!! Did she go on a starvation diet?!?" Then I saw it was featured in an article on celebrity photo air-brushing. It looks like they matted her head onto Kate Moss's body.)

About Crowe and Winslet..
You know, if I were to be famous in any way or another, I would go crazy. It seems that you are bound to give some part of your privacy away to 'the public'. I would have huge problems with that.
And I'm sure I would throw a fit every now and then, be unfriendly every now and then, be unreasonable every now and then, sure, even be a tight ass bitch every now and then.
I compliment every celebrity for putting up with the tabloids, the press, the gossip etc etc.

Oooohhh, again! They deserve no pity. They crave the attention and publicity, until they get it. Then they throw their fits and cry that they have no privacy. Fuck 'em. They do what they do because they crave attention and money. Congratulations...they've got it.

Hmm, the ever changing face of Ms Winslet. I really don't know what to think of her.
Personally, she is one of my favourites actresses, completely lacking in self-consciousness and pretense, and puts her all up onto that screen. It even showed at an early age- look at her performance in Heavenly Creatures at the tender age of seventeen.
But when it comes to image and press, I couldn't say that she was lacking in self-consciousness. There's a debate as to whether she did indeed greenlight those GQ pictures (in which, may I add, she looked terrible...she has a gorgeous figure, real Forties style starlet...why want to change it?), and if she did, then indeed she is going back on her whole "big is beautiful" propaganda mission.
And yes, the whole Mendesgate affair. Now, I have infinite respect for both (Mendes is a personal hero- I WANT THAT FUCKING CAREER!), but it was pretty damn suspicious when you consider that merely months before Winslet and Threapleton split, she was proclaiming her undying love and happiness for him, and then Bob's your Mother's Brother, she's divorced from him and finding comfort in the arms of Mr Mendes.
Yes, people have affairs. But this almost seemed like a complete personality transplant for Winslet- even her wardrobe changed. With Threapleton, she was the apple-cheeked, practical and casually clad English rose. But along came Mendes, and along came a whole new figure, daring little numbers and a new air of Hollywood glamour...something the 'old' Kate would shudder to embrace.
Despite all of this, however, I still have infinite respect for her as an actress. Fearless, bold and always a joy to watch, I'll still anticipate her films. Film wise, she's quite an inspiration to many. But I don't think I'm in any big rush to imitate her personal life.
You can't have it all.

Beautifully worded Succubus...and I wholeheartedly agree with you, Kate is a remarkable talent!!!
Even so, when it comes to her attitude, personality, private-life and such...I can't say I am won over!!!

Russel Crowe leads, for lack of a better term I can think of, an intense life. He's constantly in the spotlight, and there are a lot of things that are really important to him. He's very upfront, and when something pisses him off he'll let whatever it was that did it have it all. He's just the opposite of laid back, but he's not really what I would call "mean", or even a jerk.

Those two have never particularly struck me as anything but "actors". Although I don't agree with Crowe's fussy ways, I do not think they are both in it for the money and attention. Just how I see it, though.
