Lions Gate Home Entertainment has officially announced the launch of their new line of DVD special editions. The Lions Gate Signature Series, with its autograph-branded packaging, debuts on February 18th with the special edition re-releases of Amores Perros, Eve's Bayou, Monster's Ball, and O. The Signature Series discs will include a mix of previously issued and newly created bonus materials, and in cases such as Eve's Bayou and Monster's Ball, will feature longer unrated director's cuts. Monster’s Ball will also come with a new production commentary with director Marc Forster and writers Milo Addica and Will Rokos, cast and crew interviews, the Sundance Channel's “Anatomy of a Scene,” and trailers. Eve’s Bayou will contain a new cast commentary featuring Samuel L. Jackson, a production commentary with the filmmakers, the short film “Dr. Hugo” with a new commentary track, and trailers. O will include a commentary with director Tim Blake Nelson, cast and crew interviews, deleted scenes with optional commentary, an analysis of the basketball scene with Nelson and director of photography Russell Lee Fine, and trailers. Amores Perros will come with a production commentary track, deleted scenes, two featurettes, three music videos, stills, storyboards, and trailers. All widescreen transfers will be enhanced for 16x9 televisions and, in most cases, were supervised by the filmmakers. Monster’s Ball retails $24.99, while the others are $19.99 apiece.
Two other Signature Series discs, due April 15th, include Adrian Lyne's Lolita and the cult sci-fi Cube. Future Signature Series discs include Affliction, American Psycho, Gods and Monsters, and Shadow of the Vampire - all among 22 titles that Lions Gate Entertainment recently reacquired from Universal Studios.
