Now that Christopher Nolan is rumored to be the new director, who do you want to play Batman, and who should be in the movie. What should the story be? I personally wouldn't mind seeing Keaton take on the role again, but if he doesn't do it than I want William Peterson to play him. Sure he's got gray hair, but he has the right size and voice and face to play a decent Batman. He's a good actor too, and has also played the detective role before, so he knows his stuff. He could turn whatever fat he has into muscle, have his hair died and then he'd be the right person. I also think that Pierce Brosnan could do a good job because he is the perfect Bruce Wayne, and he is the perfect size for the Bat! Just lose the accent!! Just for fun, Steven Seagal would be mucho cool as Batman and Bruce. If he slims down a bit and gets his ponytail snipped, he would be the most violent Batman to date. The first two choices are where I'd go however. What about John McTiernan as the director?

this film coul be so good if they put the right pl behind it, but i get the feeling its gonna carry on the whole cartoon stylee with too much daylight and colourful costumes, and not go back to its original 'proper'batman style with a true Gotham - dark, disturbing, like it should be.
im not saying the batman films are bad, but anything after batman foreve kinda just felt stupid to me.
Apart from Ketaon and Kilmer, i can't just this minute think of anyone who strikes me as batman. Whenever i think of Brosnan i just think Bond, and i think i would do that all the way through the film, just like i sit through LoTR and wonder how they could put elf ears n agent smith.
anyway, laterz

The first Batman movie directed by Tim Burton kicked ass. I think that opened the doorway for the high quality super hero comic book movies we have today such as Spiderman and The soon to be released Daredevil. Before Burton's Batman movie comic book movies where considered shlock and not really given the proper respect. Thanks to Burton. He changed that.
Anyway I thought Keaton was excellent as Batman and George Cloony too! I thought Cloony was areal great Batman, the only problem was that the movie he stared in as Batman really sucked! I would love to see cloony come back as the Dark Knight except this time in a much better story and in the Batman costume that was in the first movie.
I think for a new Batman movie it should be a a new series not another sequel to the previous movies. Have it have the same gothic look as the original and for The villain THE SCARCROW!

Definitly the Scarecrow for the next Batman Movie villain. Personally I see Jeremy Irons playing that role. Creepy voice, skinny - perfect for the part!

I read that it wasn't going to happen anytime soon. It's apparently on hold, along with Batman vs Superman and Batman Beyond. The studio wasn't happy with the script. Anyway, the next Batman sequel seems to be the only one moving forward. I got this from Dark horizons

"Batman: Year One" is/was the only new Batman entry in the works. Apparently they were going to do a live-action version of the "Batman Beyond" cartoon which was set in the future with a 80ish Bruce Wayne training a new teenish Batman. I really liked the show, so I've been looking forward to this. Though, it's been stuck in Development Hell for a while. I also heard that Jack Nicholson has thought of some clever way to revive Joker. I'm not totally against that idea, but I doubt that that's going to happen. As for "Batman: Year One," I've definately heard of that and how dark the comic book is. I'm most excited about that one, but I think they're going to do a regular sequel before a prequel like that. If it's a regular sequel, then I always thought that Batman face Clayface. Of course, as of late with the series, there's been two villians. I really don't know who the other villian should be. I do know this though: Usually if there's two villians, one's a tricky and intelligent, though not specially strong, and the other is specially strong in some way, but not specially intelligent. Clayface is definately of the the stronger type, so he could use a clever partner. I was never too familiar with the scarecrow, but I think he was more of the intelligent type, and seeing him pair up with Clayface would be interesting. They just better not camp it up!

I would love to see them make a Batman movie that takes place in the late 30's or early 40's; Detective Comics Era with Batman in his Blue and Gray costume and with the original Batmobile with the bat-face on the front and the bat-wing tail fin. I think that would be cool!

That might turn out really cool of Chris Nolan directs it... but I would HATE it if Steven Seagal played Batman. Seagal annoys me to no end.

The fifth installment of Batman was supposed to be a fresh start. From what I read, it was to have the Scarecrow and the return of the Joker.
If this is true to Tim Burton's style, and does have my hero the Scarecrow (Why do I see Steve Buschemi playing it?) then it can pass for horror. =P

I agree that it should go back to the dark gothic look and if scarecrow is the villain I have the perfect casting for him..........................ED NORTON!

I think with the new Batman movies they should just stick with one super villain each movie, like the original, which only had the Joker. I think the movies started to lose it when they started adding two or three villains in the mix. Also the series lost its dark and grity edge once Burton stoped helming as director. So any way for the Next film Just have ib be the Scarecrow or Just the return of the Joker, not tem teamed together.

Aside for the fact that Batman & Robin was the most horrifying desecration of a franchise I have ever witnessed, this one really belongs over on the 'light side' of the board :)

I heard that if Nolan directs it that he will stay completly true to the comics with the dark style and all.

I don't think this film is going to happen, I just know the WB is going to find a way to fuck this film over a'la "Batman vs. Superman".
Anyway, I think Nolan is a great choice as the director for the next Batman flick. He seems to really want to make a great movie, and seems to have a deep admiration and love for the character and comic-book.
I would go with the Scarecrow storyline, but I really hope they leave with just him. One villlian is more than enough for me. I think such above-mentioned actors as Jeremy Irons, Ed Norton, and Steve Buscemi would do a good job. But I think Geoffrey Rush would do an excellent job.
As for the Dark Knight himself, I really hope Nolan could get Guy Pearce to play the role... he would make a great Batman! Other choices could be Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, John Cusack, or Russell Crowe (hey, it could work... maybe). But Guy Pearce is my top choice.

I think that the next installment of the caped crusader should be based on The Dark Night Returns, the graphic novel inwhich an aging Bruce Wayne comes out of retirement for one last ass-kicking spree. Much more dark, gritty, and violent. In this, Batman drags a thug up to the top of a sky-scraper and dangles him off just to hear him scream. A dark, R-rated flick is probably the only way to save the Batman franchise.

i dont know about the super violent R type movie for batman. They should stick with the origanal PG-13, with a good amont of action but without corrupting the plot. let batman have a life as bruce wayne plus the black knight.plus have boy wonder and bat girl killed off or something.

I just dont want gay-ass Robin and sutpid Batgirl to return. The Dark Knight should work alone. End of story.
As for the cast i think that Viggo Mortensen could make a really good Batman or if not him then Guy Pierce, Christian Bale or Hugh Jackman. Or maybe Hayden Christensen (hahahahahahaha)
Definately not Steven Seagal, Russel Crowe or Pierce Brosnan.
I also like Clayface as a villain but i definately wouldnt mind Scarecrow and Steve Buscemi would be perfect for him.
I wouldnt like the return of Joker unless Jacko plays him again (which is unlikely). He IS Joker. Nobody could take his place.
Batman rules.
All other superheros come in second at best.

Geez, enough of cast Reco's of other superheros! J/k. I mean, Hugh Jackman for Batman? Or even, Halle Berry for Storm?
Anyway, I would've suggested Colin Farrell to play him but he already owns Bullseye, so like yea. He's so, dark, mysterious, and... handsome! Maybe.. too young?
Besides that, I read something about a few other batman movies, like Batman Beyond, you know the cartoon, about Terri McGuiness (or however you spell it), Batman Year: One, and that Batman Vs. Superman.
So it's like, where to start? If they were going to do a Batman Beyond, I'd go for Colin Farrell. He's young, agile and the PERFECT superhero for now days. So far, Spiderman's Toby McGuire and Daredevil's Ben Affleck just doesn't cut the prestige of the only Christopher Reeves' Superman!
For Batman Vs. Superman or even this Batman 5, it HAS to be someone older, like Kiefer Sutherland. Okay okay, I got actor's block and couldn't figure out anyone. But hey, he's old and a GREAT actor! And you know what? He reminds me of Keaten in a way!
cheers!

Although I find the though of a Tim Burton'esk Scarecrow vs Batman movie would be wicked, I'd absolutely adore to see it instead be 'Knightfall'.
If anyone has ever read the Knightfall comic series (I own all 'em all baby) then you'll understand.

Jack Nicholson could play Batman if they mad a "Kingdom Come" movie. But as for a younger Joker, as in the Comics, if they do the whole "Year one" thing, I have an interesting choice. I don't even know the actors name, but I saw him play Iago in an updated version of "Othello." And as everyone knows, Iago is the baddest-ass villian ever written. Anyway, the guy creeped me out with his huge grin and I remembered thinking to myself, this guy would make a great young Joker. He played the bad guy in "Gone in 60 Seconds." He definitely fits the young Joker model to a T. I looked it up, and his name is CHRISTOPHER ECCLESTON. That guy is creepy.

i know you guys want scarecrow to play the villiain simply because he is the best badguy left that thye havent already done. but yall forget about batmans greatest enemy, except for joker, Reash Algul (sp?). dude come on lazarus man. he was the shit. i say they kill batgirl, robin gets pissed and leaves to become nightwng. and its bats one on one for a change - the way it should be.
and they really have to fix gotham city. its not dark enough for batman

I wouldn't think so IMO. He's a great actor but I don't see him playing the role of batman.

I was watching some entertainment show in Australia the other night and it said that the top 3 contenders for batman were Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Guy Pearce. Even though depp and Pearce would be pretty good I think most of us agree that Bale should be Batman.

Christan Bale turned in the best child performance ever in Steven Spielberg's Empire of the Sun. He was amazing as the killer lead in American Psycho. And the rich killer in John Singleton's Shaft.

I still think they should have made Batman: Year One. It had a dark ass story line and would have been primo Nolan fodder. For a younger Batman and a younger Joker I would have gone with Mark Ruffalo and Sam Rockwell.
But seeing as it's a sequel I think they should get an older, grizzled type. Kiefer Sutherland would rule. As for the scarecrow, Steve Buscemi looks the part but is real small. Scarecrow needs to be tall and lanky. Geoffrey Rush was a real smart pick (whoever chose him).

Damn Right Colin Farrell should be batman (beyond, present etc)
When I think of Batman several actors spring to mind:
Bruce Willis-Funny, does action, could be better than Die Hard 4
Brendan Fraser-does action well, has a sense of humor, needs a big hit.
Geroge Clooney-did it once before and did it very well
Viggo Mortissen-Aragon as Batman? It's possible.
James Marsters-If he bleached his hair darker he'd look just like a younger Bruce Wayne. Batman Year 1 perhaps?
Vin Diesel-Has the tough guy look. He'd need a wig though.
As for new villians
Clayface-Imagine if you will a hulking musclebound CGI freak that could tear Batman's arms outta thier sockets? Good idea eh?
Scarecrow-Now imagine Clayface teaming up with a psychotic demonic scarecrow who's fear-gas makes people go insane.
Calendar Girl killer- A little obscure but for her its always Day Los Muertos and a normal persons more dangerous than any super powered freak anyday.
Man-Bat-big and cool to look at.
Killer Croc-fun over the top villian. It'd be cool to see him team with Clayface or The Scarecrow.
Duke Nukem
03-05-2003, 07:03 PM
How about Vince Vaughn as Clayface? I think he may have the right figure, square jaw and face for the actor-turned-claymonster.
As mentioned before, he could team up with Steve Buscomi as the Scarecrow.

Batman 5 should go back to the original Batman look (movie wise) as it was filmed in the original Batman starring Michael Keaton
as for who should play the role? why not Michael Keaton? christ, he returned to star in BeetleJuice 2.. so why not return to start in Batman 5?
as for the enemy.. why not Joker? why not bring back Jack Nicholson? If this could be done (one more time) and the same kinda look as it was in the original Batman movie..It would be priceless :)

Annex, you should be happy to hear this. I read from a movie magazine last year that with all the Batman sequels and prequels being proposed, Jack Nicholson suggested a clever way to bring back the Joker. I don't how, they never said, but with all the Batman 5 business lately, we really don't know what their going to do next. There's "Batman: Year One," "Batman Beyond", and a general sequel, all possibly in the works.
Oh, and what's this about "Beetlejuice 2"? I've never heard of it yet. Is it currently in production or an upcoming movie?
Annex
03-05-2003, 11:12 PM
I dunno
I had read it on IMDB I think it was (that movie review site) about a month ago or so.. and it said that Michael Keaton said he would come back and do BeetleJuice 2
so, I think it could be in production/filming right now. I guess someone could check into it and give us some more information. I don't have much on that :(
