A friend told me that producers of the 2000 movies GLADIATOR and CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON have confirmed sequels to the films. I think it might be a lie but I'm just curious as to if there is any further information from you guys. I heard the GLADIATOR sequel is going to be based on Lucius as Emperor.
I don't actually believe this but as I said I'm curious to see if you guys come up with any info or opinions? I hope this doesn't happen because they were great movies (both 9/10 or A ratings) and don't deserve the sequel treatment.

Here is an older thread on the topic. It should give you some more information. http://www.joblo.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42649&highlight=a+sequel+to+gladiator

Well, the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
movie was based on a 5 books released in China, and the next one (movie), is supposed to be a prequel, not a sequel to CTHD. The third and fourth, and fifth one though, I have no clue what they are doing.
From http://www.magiclanternpr.com/films/crouching.html
Ang Lee: It's an adaptation of the fourth part of a five-part novel, by Wang Du Lu. The fourth part is also called "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and was written before the Second World War. I got to read it in Taiwan only about five years ago, when we were finally allowed to publish books that are published in mainland China.
I like the writer and the old-fashioned, nostalgic way he approaches classic Chinese culture. There is a degree of realism to it—it doesn't go too crazy, too out of bounds. It has outstanding female characters and it has a tragic ending, both of which are unusual for a martial arts film. Anyway, this project was in my heart for a long time. I made three other movies before I got to do it.
I am sure there are more articals on the net, about Ang Lee, and the Sequels/prequels to CTHD.
I just can't find them yet.
But it is true. When CTHD
first came out, or was ready for
release, I believe there was a statement made, that they would make the prequel first.
Anyway, I hope this helps.

If you want more info on the Crouching Tiger bit, the name of the prequel rather is something like Golden Sword, Precious Hairpin. Or the other way around, Precious Sword, Golden Hairpin. No, or it could be Precious Hairpin, Golden Sword. I rather think the name is quite horrible, but I doubt Ang Lee will change the name of the book.
Oh, and I am NOT joking...just look around for news about the prequel...the name is something like what I said above. I'm a big fan of Crouching Tiger and all, but i'm not particularly crazy about the idea of a prequel...
BUT, if you want something like that (and yet totally different), I've heard that HERO is amazing....
I soo wanna c that movie...then again, I am a big fan of Jet Li...even tho he sucks at acting...in English anyway. hopefully this movie shows off his acting skills a bit more, like Crouching Tiger should've...(then again, now that I've seen the movie, I can't see anyone but Chow Yun Fat in the role)..

I happen to be the friend that Urban was speaking of lol. Yeah i read about it on www.killermovies.com once. Its a possibility so the producers say, but it could be a rumour. It'd be sad if they made a sequel, cause the first films were so good! Why ruin that by making a sequel?
