Caught this one last night on IFC... definitely one of the most engaging, stylistic, visually interesting movies that have come across my path in a long time. As bad and disappointing as Trouble Every Day was, this movies is the polar opposite. There is an intense dream sequence where our female lead is dreaming about her male counterpart, which was filmed so well it gave me a shudder, and I'm so desensitized that I can watch Last House on the Left without flinching. Worth a look if you don't mind the subtitles.

I hate to say it, but Trouble Every Day was awful. I waited for a long, long time to see that movie, and I had high expectations... however, nobody that I saw the movie with that night enjoyed it even remotely. It was without a doubt the biggest dissapointment of the year for me. To save a lot of typing, it was really boring... the director drew out scenes far too long, there were characters and subplots that were introduced, and never brought up again. Promised a lot, delivered almost nothing.

Delicatessen is phenomenal though... I didn't like City of Lost Children when I first saw it, but D. has inspired me to give it another shot.
