From memory (it's been probably 15 years since I read it), the TV movie follows the book pretty closely inluding the end. The very last page is pretty cool though.
I can't remember who lives and who dies in Vegas in the book, but I know it's a little different than the TV series ending.

"The Stand" is boring? Well, whatever. Anyway, yes, the book and the movie end the same, though the book goes into a little more detail, obviously, and concludes with a coda (spoiler - highlight) with Flagg being "reborn" in a man who is washed up on a beach in, I think, South America and worshipped by a primative tribe.

Well hell then do not read IT that is a long book also. If you do not like long books either do not read them or get audio books or hell just watch the movie! :p

Hey I love long books the problem with this one is that the extra pages dont really add much to the story. It's mostly just character development. Usually thats a good thing but in this book it's not.

The movie went on for six hours! That is very long, it went fairly quickly though. The Stand is entertaining but not at all scary.
Randall Flagg dies at the end by the hand of God, and Larry and Ralph wanted to go to Heaven on a more peaceful place. So God allowed them to. Stu, Frannie and all the others that survived decided to stay on Earth, raise a family and build a new world.
All other characters died. Pretty good, overall!
