I would click on that link. I would comment on the casting. The thing is, I gave up all hope I had that Ratner would make a good SUPERMAN film. Sure I'll see it because I love the comic, but I am not really excited.

Hey, he directed Red Dragon, but.. He's the same guy that directed Rush Hour.

cheers!

Looks like he'd make a good Superman. I'm not such a die hard fan and I don't care so much if it strays from the comics. I am still hoping this will be a good movie.

Yeah, that's exactly how I feel. It really don't care how close the movie stays to the comic. All I care about is if the movie is good.

as long as its not Nic Cage i'm happy.... but i'd like to see Russell Crowe... i think he could pull it off

Russell Crowe?? WTF??

Nah, he looks a little too old, and evil! I can't picture him smiling and like, parading in blue tights.

Adam Garcia from Coyote Ugly fits the role I think. Dark hair, blue eyes, and a butt chin, yea, that's superman. Unfortunately, he's only like, 5'11" and Superman should be like, the size of that guy Evan Marriet or whatever from Joe Millionaire! Now he could fit as a good Superman, too bad he's dumb.

Hmmm... Ashton Kutcher (or however you spell it), seems like a good cast guy. However, I think his role in That 70's Show will kind of interfere with how serious Superman is. It'd be so gay if they cast him and like they have a little side gag where he ends up saying, "Dude, where's my cloak?" Eh.. he won't work.

Who? Colin Farrell? Nah, he's Bullseye, plus, he looks more like a Batman. I was going to say Hugh Jackman, but that dude OWNS Wolverine.

Tom Cruise? I could picture him as Clark Kent, but not Superman. Luke Wilson? Now he fits the description, plus, he could pose a really good serious actor, hence, his suicide scene in the Royal Tenanbaums.

Anyway, I'm out of actors...

cheers!

I just read at Coming Attractions that Josh Hartnett has until tommorrow to make his decision. I hope he says yes.

I'm sorry but there's no way Josh could pull off Superman! He's not the superhero type of guy and what's worse is that he's a talentless little shite, all he can do is look confused and not knowing where he is, GOD I desperately hope he says no.

Watch "O" and "Black Hawk Down" and your opinion of him will change. The guy is a good actor.

Looks as though Hartnett is all but signed on.

Excellent news in my opinion.

Yeah I think O is his best performance. It was incredibly good. That whole movie was incredibly good. Unfortunately it suffers from the "Oh it has teen actors in it, so it must be sub-par" stereotype. Hartnett would be good.

I must admit and agree that Josh Hartnett is a GREAT actor, but honestly, he doesn't exactly fit Superman's facade. He just doesn't look the part. Compared to Ashton Kutcher, he BEATS HIS ARSE with acting, but Ashton looks more of the part.

Hopefully, he says no, because I seriously can't picture him as Superman, he looks too much like Tommy Lee Jones. It must be their eyes.

cheers!

Ok fine, Josh Hartnett is not talentless but he's very close to being talentless. I watched "O" about a year ago and I thought he was good in that. Besides that movie, I think he's practically wooden. I've seen everything of his except for Black Hawk Down, hopefully that will change my opinion of him.

Although I think they could do much better then Josh Hartnett, I am willing to tolerate Hartnett much more then Kutcher as Superman.

But I really wish Ratner and everyone else at WB would get off their ass and try to find an actor that will fit the role instead of trying to find a named actor that will sign a 10 year/3 picture deal. And that’s true, they are not looking for an actor, most likely a no named actor, that will be perfect for Superman (like what Ratner promised everyone, the lying bastard), they are searching for a named actor that will sign a ten year contract, doesn’t matter if he is right for the role or not.

Also why are they making a trilogy over a 10 year span about nothing but Superman’s origins (which judging by the first draft of the script they already screwed that story up). So this means it will be ten years before we will be able to see a Superman movie with some of the more interesting comic villains, and we are stuck with a 10 year long rehash of Superman 2 villains.

I could see Hartnett as superman because he kinda resembles him

pseudo_HERO

Anyone can resemble Superman, if they're white and have like, dark hair. Although Hartnett resembles him, in your opinion, I just don't think he's the level of Christopher Reeves, even though no one can top him. But compared between them two, they are miles apart. Hartnett looks like Tommy Lee Jones.

Hannibal, don't worry about changing your opinions about Hartnett if whether or not he's talentless, because I agree with you. He's SO, the same guy in every movie. They may be different characters in general, it's just that I can't tell them apart compared to someone like Luke Wilson or Adam Garcia. Line all their characters up, and you can totally tell the difference for each and everyone of them. From Luke Wilson's character in Old School compared to The Royal Tenanbaums or Adam Garcia's character in Coyote Ugly and his serious one in Riding In Cars With Boys. Although Hartnett may play a more aggressive character in The Faculty, it felt much of the same in Black Hawk Down. Actually, he wasn't that significant in Black Hawk Down. I felt more acting from Ewan McGreggor than from him. Oh yea! Ewan McGreggor's a GREAT actor!! Whoever has talent are the actors who portray someone entirely different than the basic norm, like Ewan McGreggor in Black Hawk Down compared to Trainspotting. I just don't think Hartnett can pull it off.

As for Kutcher and Hartnett, I'd take Kutcher to play Superman. We have never tested the limits of Kutcher's acting abilities in a more serious movie so we may never know, and Superman can be it. We experienced Hartnett's, and he's good, but I don't think he fits Superman's/Clark Kent's facade. He's too serious to be in a comic-crossover. I can picture him as a VILLAIN than a Superhero, unless he plans on playing Gambit for X-Men because he SO fits him!

cheers!

Warner seems to be wanting a big name on this more then a talented one.

As much as i disliked SpiderMan Sam Raimi did the right thing with hiring cheaper unkown actors with TALENT rather then big names to draw in people. I could see if it was a lesser know like DareDevil, but Superman??

I personally don't think there should be another Superman movie. No matter who they cast they will not be able to BE Superman like Reeve was. He was so good at acting different when he was Clark. His posture voice and whole personality changed when he went from Clark to Superman and back again. You could actually believe they weren't the same person.
I just don't think there is an actor that can pull it off as convincingly as Reeve did.

UK magazine Hello! and the Filmforce website are reporting that David Boreanaz has signed a three movie , $ 30 million dollar contract to play the new Clark Kent / Superman. I don't know how accurate this is I'm mean David's like thirty something now , by the time the last movie comes out we'll have Superman flying around in a wheelchair. ( okay so maybe that last part was a bit of an exaggeration.) But seriously if it's a ten year deal he'll be at least 43 when the last movie completes production. But if this is true I'm happy for the guy , he deserves a little success with his movie career after bombs like Valentine and I'm with Lucy.
