I caught (Excuse the pun) this on Sunday night, and was very surprised! It was well made, and quite scary in some places.

What did you think of it?

I think its very entertaining and a very underrated film, good acting, some of the effects are obviously cgi but its pure fun

Top-class mindless entertainment. The CGI got out of hand, but I could never guess who would drop next. Cool flick.

Great movie. I actually just watched it the other day at the gym. Yes, my gym has a movie theater. Nothing like watching Stellan Skaarsgard get his arm bitten off while riding an exercise bike :)

I've liked this movie since I first saw it. Like countchocula said it's pure mindless entertainment and I loved every minute of it.

the cgi definetly did get out of hand and mindless at many times and points, but still entertaining and fun....good for people with a bit of a fear for sharks.

I didn't like this movie very much. Mostly due to part to the CGI...um everything.

SPOILER

The scene where Sam Jackson gets killed was so unintentionally funny because everything looked so fucking fake.

I had a good laugh with this one :D

I agree about the dodgy cgi though: the sharks kept changing size !?

I agree, I thought this was a very lame movie. Not only the CGI but it wasnt incredibly suspenseful or interesting. Ill take Jaws anyday

Not a great flick. A few jumpy scenes and some ok action, but bad cgi. Great animatronics however!!!

Decent thriller. I didn't like Samuel L. Jackson being killed off so early though. 6/10

Yeah, Jackson should of lived longer. I thought the film was ok, obviously not great but was pure popcorn fun.

I think Deep Rising beats Deep Blue Sea hands down, yeah again some dodgy effects but its played like the cheesy B-movie it is and even the characters seem aware of this watching Deep Blue Sea the characters play it too seriously. Also for 15certificate (UK) its pretty gory, people being digested alive and axes through the face. Great film

I liked This film. A perfect "Rainy day" film. Not really much to think about, just plain fun to watch. The effects weren't all that bad ( I have seen much worse. watch "Independence Day" on a regular 25 inch television screen. You can pick it to pieces.) It did catch me by suprise, though. All the people I thought were going to check out didn't.

Still a good, fun movie.

this film didnt strike me all that much. the cgi was overly used. i mean the scenes with the robotic shark look so real, they should have found a way to work with that. the acting kinda sucked to. samuel L jacksons little speech was so theatrical it wasnt even funny. i dont know its good to watch once but tnhats all ill recomend.

It was an okay movie but not more.
I prefer much more Jaws which is my favorite film of all time.

I also like this movie a good deal. I thought Jackson's exit was sush a surprise the first time I saw it.

Also, I think its a mistake to compare this film with Jaws. I think it has much more in common with the stories in the Alien films in that it features characters trapped in an isolated, techno/sci-fi environment trying to find their way out before it all blows up and/or everyone is killed by beasts.

SPOILER:
It was fun how they used his star image to create the surprise. He delivers a "Samuel L. Jackson movie tough guy speecH" that's meant to rally the quarreling, panicking cast and then, WHAM! Never saw it coming.

Fun movie.

First off I like shark flicks as a whole...there aint much of em out there...but DBS didnt do much for me. The suspence at times was laughable...LL stuck in an oven? it may have sounded good but it didnt work for me. Overall it wasnt BAD per say but I just couldnt wrap my mind around it.

Deep Blue Sea was a good summer movie. I remember seeing it and enjoying it for what it was, popcorn entertainment.

Sure some of the cgi wasn't good and some of the dialogue was weak, but that didn't stop it from being fun.
