From imdb.com:

Pop superstar Madonna has gone full steam ahead with what has been dubbed as the "most shocking" anti-war statement in showbiz. The Material Girl is currently in Los Angeles, California, filming a music video which takes a strong stance against America's imminent war with Iraq - as well as slamming the nation's president George W. Bush. American journalist Matt Drudge reports that sources say, "It could be the most shocking anti-war, anti-Bush statement yet to come from show business. She's taking it all the way this time - pushing all of the buttons. It's a sweeping commentary on the modern 'American dream', and how nothing is as it seems." In the video, the Music singer is said to be wearing military fatigues and throwing grenades as an electronic beat pounds away. The video will be part of her upcoming album American Life. A source says, "'American Life' is about freedom of speech. It examines not only war, greed and ego, but it's self-reflective also. Madonna rejects her Material Girl image once and for all and warns of life in a material world."

IMO, a very good way to protest. What are your thoughts ?

The best thing she could do would be to threaten to sing at the enemy. That'd send them running for the hills...

Madonna never does anything unless there's some form of self-promotion involved. She probably couldn't care less about the anti-war movement.

Hmmm. This is a pretty daring stance regardless. This could cost her in the long run. Remember Jane Fonda?

I'm not sure how I feel about this.

damn right mr harkonnen. i couldnt agree with u more?

honest question? who really cares anymore?

besides, i can not forgive her for performing the worst Bond song i have ever heard. die another day is an ok film, but that song really made it hard to get into it at the start. i left the theatre to go to the toilet when it was on. horrible horrible song.

I thought Die Another Day, the movie, blew chunks. But the song was okay.

Feyd is right. She never does anything without some personal gain in mind. Another one that should shut the fuck up, and get over herself.

It's a risque stance. I wanna see the video before I give an opinion -- if it's shitty and ridiculous like the DIE ANOTHER DAY music video, then Madonna's screwed over and over. But if the video's well-done...it could be interesting.

I agree, let's give it a chance...hell Madonna could surprise us.

I doubt that Madonna even knows where Iraq is, much less cares about whether the country goes to war. It's all about self-promotion.

Doesnt she live in London with Guy Ritchie?
Hey Madonna, we dont want you back, the Brits can keep you. Your teeth fit in better over there anyway.

Ha,
Im just teasing. For whatever reason, it is a common stereotype to say that Brits have bad teeth. Maybe your dentists arent as well trained:eek: I apologize if I insulted any straight-toothed english gentlemen. My jabs were aimed solely at the Material Girl.

Like she cares. She's like that old guy from The Simpsons, standing on a street corner w/ her pants down around her ankles singing The Old Gray Mare, She Ain't What She Used To Be.

I hate it when assholes agree w/ my poilitical position. Makes me look stupid by association.

I could claim that all "Yanks" ;) are built like brick shit-houses. Lets face it, you've got a bit of a reputation for being chubby bitches!!!

My gnashers aren't PEARLY white mind (I smoke), but they're perfectly passable. They're a damn sight better than pissin' Madonna's!!!

I had some big huge thing typed out here, but it ain't worth it.

All I'm going to say is that Madonna is taking a daring stance. A daring stance that no one else has the balls to take right now, at least not in such a public manner. Good for her.

in a pure anatomical sense, madonna technically doesnt have the balls either....

not unless theres something her press office really doesnt want the world to find out....

Only in America can you have The Material Girl and A Surf Bum Pothead be the authority in Anti War movements.

I've loathed Madonna since day one, and like some schmoes, I'm quite suspicious this is another one of her attempts at self-promotion. However, since I agree with her stance, I cannot crucify her too much. Not this time around anyway.

Hey, c'mon, we all know it's (at list in part) for self-promotion. But I say the purpose matters less than the consequences in this particular case, and as long as the movie clip gets its point made and makes noise and creates controversy, I think it's a good thing.
