View Full Version : Who should play Iron Man?

I think the best possible choice for the part would have to be Johnny Depp.I think there will be more interest shown in playing this role by high profile actors than any other comic book character.
Other considerations,
Brad Pitt
Benico Del Toro could be interesting
George Clooney
Tom Cruise

idk 'bout those choices, Guy Pearce could make a scientist gone wrong or something type of Villian. IDK it's a tough call, you have to get someone a bit older then the average Teen, since the characters a billionare, mid- 30's maybe?

Tom Cruise would be fine. He looks pretty much like Tony Stark does and has supposedly expressed interest anyway.

Who's Iron Man? J/k. God, if that was going to be a movie, who'd watch it??? The guy who played Jango Fett in Star Wars seemed to fit the whole Iron Man guy, since, hell.. he was behind a mask/suit.
cheers!

No one should play IronMan, it shouldn't be made! It's comic book character overkill and what makes things worse is that movie executives are now turning to second rate heroes because all the good ones are gone. DareDevil and IronMan are not film material. No one really knows about them or cares. The cartoons were crap and the comics weren't that good either. DareDevil is blind and can jump and flip - big whoop. Spiderman can do those things and then some. IronMan can fly with rockets in his feet - wow!
I wish movie producers would leave comic books alone before they wreck the whole genre. Spiderman and X-Men are simple untouchable.

No but if I could it wouldn't be much of a basis for a movie would it? With Superman coming soon a men in a metal suit how can fly using rockets is going to look pretty lame against the man of steel. Iron Man is NOT movie material. I'd much preffer to see Spidy and the X-Men come up with some new, great adventures than see characters like this wreck the overall genre.

Tom Cruise fits the bill perfectly. The man could be a real-life Tony Stark if you ask me, and he knows how to act, so he'd be the perfect choice for the part.

I disagree, i think if anything will wreck the genre its DCs and Warners pathetic atempts to cash in on the super hero thing with a rehash of Superman that sounds so god aweful its not funny.(I never cared much for Super Man anyway, hes to perfect. perfect=boring)
Marvel seems to be giving these movies to people who are fans of the comics and genuinly care about what they are making and the craft involved and that is why they have not disappointed me yet and hope to see more of the same in the future.
Back on the subject, a Iron Man movie would kick so much ass!Tony Stark was a great inventor and a bit of a play boy, but he also battled alchoholism and depression. The Iron Man armor itself would be great to see with repulser rays, the boot jets, the different sight modes and super strength along with many other gadgets. It would be cool to see a movie aout the military using the Iron Man tech for purpose of war and Tony having to fight to keep it out of thier hands!

the more i read of yours the more i agree with you... you are one smart puppy
as for casting... who ever posted arnie... well thats just kinda sad.... George could do it... but shouldnt, he was bat-man and no one should ever do 2 superheros... but if he was to ever be another superhero hes got to be Reed Richards!!!!!! as for tony stark.... Tom Cruise would be really good, so would Adam Sandler (j/k;) ) ... i dont know it has been said, and i know he doesnt have the look... but it would work... Vin Diesel could easily pull it off, hes smooth, tough, and would make a good superhero

P.S. thx for the compliment daredevil :D

I agree that this whole cashing in on Super hero comics and such is pretty lame. Some studios just don't have enough patience to wait a while or know when a comic is not movie material. I personally would hate to see Big Guy and Rusty a movie. God that would be horrible. I don't like the cartoon that much anywayz.

Tom Cruise would be an excellent Tony Stark. He is (as someone had said earlier in this board) Tony Stark.

Well, I really hope "Iron Man" gets made, it used to be one of my fav comic-books to read. As for the role of Tony Stark, I'd go with either Tom Cruise or George Clooney, but preferably Cruise, I want to see how he does with a comic-book flick.

I dunno i almost think cruise is to much of a pretty boy(i really like tom cruise tho) to play Stark, while Clooney looks to be about the right age and have that flamboyant swagger that i think would play well in the movie. Its not that i think cruise could not play the part well, its that i think i would always see Tom Cruise up on screen, not Tony Stark.
BTW is it me or does Del Toro look a little like a vampire in that pic? He is as pale as a ghost.

i say Guy Pearce should play the part... or maybe even Seann William Scott... he wants to play more dramatic roles... maybe give it to him

After that picture I certainly think Oded Fehr could pull it off. Cruise would do about as well as he ever does, and it would ultimately depend on who was pulling his strings (KevinSmithKevinSmithKevinSmith). I'd love to see Del Toro, but I'd want to see a screen test first.
But in the end, I'll have to go with Guy Pearce. Love his work, think he could really do something with the character. Just don't let Simon Wells direct...anything...ever again.

I think Tom Cruise or George Clooney would be great: they're both suave enough  BUT there's only one man with the superhero chin and that's Bruce Campbell :)
Not just should OZZY OSBOURNE play Iron Man in the Iron Man movie, he has to. He and Black Sabbath wrote a song about this guy and Ozzy should do it. Maybe while he's blowing away villians with CGI rockets and lasers he can also be playing Iron Man over his stereo or even playing it right there on his guitar. Rahandy Roads can play Iron Man's assistant, some random Sabbath groupie can play Spider-Woman and Marilyn Masnon can play Iron Man's arch nemesis, The Mandarin.

Good one :D
Anyways, I would think either Tom Cruise or possibly maybe Johnny Depp could play Iron Man. But after that pic Nuclear Misfit posted, Oded Fehr could play Stark perfectly if he used that pic. Looks just like him. Good spotting on that one Misfit :D

Im afraid that the Ozzman couldnt pull it off hed be making rattling noises in the suit throughout the movie, face it the man shakes like a chiuaha in a earthquake, imagine how many times the guy would yell Fuck! lol and it would just give Ozzys kids another reason to grip onto Hollywood (please god no). Thanks Luke, Odehd has always caught my eye as a good Tony Stark ever since I seen him in the Mummy, its amazing the resemblance those two have.

Too bad he is too old for the part now but I think Timothy Dalton would have been perfect.

George Clooney
Johnny Depp
and Tom Cruise
are all good choices, and after seeing those pics of Iron Man, Clooney certainly fits the bill. I think if this film ever goes ahead, and Clooney was chosen, it would certainly be a nice way of getting him back into the comic book character hall of un-shame, as we all know how Batman and Robin turned out.
Oded Fehr certainly has the right look, and stars like Christian Bale, Scott Caan, Julian McMahon and Benjamin Bratt have sprung to mind.

I have to go with what joblo said about Kiefer Sutherland as iron man as he has got this certain edge to him and this is the type of movie to bring back his big screen success.

I agree, Marvel and Dc and any other comic company should do a pole for the fans to see which super heroe goes to the golden screen. Hollywood is destroying, no slaughtering the whole genre. I mean, they cant even get descent actors/actresses for the right roles. And it dosent start or stop there. Remakes of older comic movies. So what if the technology is there, dont abuse it. geez, come on, enough is enough. Time out. Somebody please throw down a flag, penalty. Offsides, Hollywood. 15 yrd penalty...

Keifer Sutherland.
Failing that, Keifer Sutherland.
If he isn't available, then give Donald Sutherland's son a call and see if he can do it.
Otherwise nobody.
Cruise would ruin it by making it a Cruise movie instead of an Iron Man movie. Something neither Affleck nor Maguire did.
Did I mention Keifer Sutherland? he could do it too, I guess.
But only if Keifer Sutherland is unavailable.

Listen here kiddies....George Clooney's already been Batman once, and he didn't do very well at that, I don't think he should get a second chance. Kiefer would be great. Also, Bruce CampbellBruce Campbell. It so could work. Besides, he's one of those underappreciated actors. He could probably use work too....that cameo in Spiderman couldn't have brought in much money....

If there has to be an Iron Man than Bruce Campbell would do a good job. But lets not forget the roles that he usually plays, but then again, that could be a good thing.
Bruce Campbell as Iron Man,"Groovy."
"Hale to the Iron King baby."
ps. Just one last thought on why it shouldnt be maid. Have you seen Dare Devil. It blew. It had to have been the worst comic movie ever. I can only imagine what the rest will turn out like. And I cant wait to go watch the Hulk, Maybe I'll get a good laugh, at least.

Bruce Campbell would be great as Iron Man, he has both the look and the ability to pull it off, and he won't turn it into something of his own like Cruise would.

I know its redundant to call howling mad murdock crazy, but damn, man, Iron Man is one of the first and most enduring of marvels A list. From the avengers to his own run in his own comic, Iron Man is way cool.
