I really liked this movie.I'm a little disapointed that they toned down the "hobbling" scene,it was still burtal, just not as brutal as the book.

Interesting story about the book Misery:
This woman was reading it and when she got to the hobbling scene she fainted out of pure fright!

Yeah I was quite dissapointed that they changed the hobbling scene, as well as some other changes like the lawnmower incident....and in the book(SMALL SPOILER) doesn't Paul actually become addicted to the painkillers b4 he wisens up?

Still not a bad film tho.... good performances, and the end was pretty cool where he's >SPOILER>

A great film, although I haven't read the book (so I can't say whether it's better or not). The scene involving the sledgehammer and the legs was pretty brutal, and it makes me squirm each time I see it. Kathy Bates was terrific as the psychotic nurse Annie, and James Caan was sympathetic and likeable as the writer Paul Sheldon. I too agree that the ending was pretty cool, and the car crash at the beginning wasn't too shabby. All in all, definately one of the best films that are related to Stephen King.

i really enjoyed this movie although it scared me from writing books, Kathy Bates is a wonderful actor and has proved it in Misery as well as Dolores Claborne(Spelling?) This is one of my favorite Stephen King books and movies of all time just Below the 2 creepshow movies and the Book Apt Pupil

I totally agree w/you. It was a great movie but all of Stephen King's stuff is butchered on the big screen. In Cujo (the book) the little boy dies of heat exahustion and Cujo eats like two or three more people. In Children of the Corn, Vicki dies and Burt doesn't break up the cult. Also the death's in Christine are much more brutal and The Shining is almost nothing like the book except for the fact that it's at the Overlook Hotel. I always like his books better than the screen adaptations.

It's been many years since I read the book, but in the book's hobbling scene *highlight* Doesn't she cut one of his feet off?

Actually, I highlight believe she cuts off both feet...with an axe.

The book and the movie are both very good.

Great movie btw. One of my favorite Stephen King flicks.

Misery - A-

This movie was great. It was possibly one of the most suspenseful movies of all time, well what I've seen anyway it definitely tops the list. Kathy Bates deserved her Oscar...she gives one of the finest leading female performances of the 90's. James Caan was also very good, especially with his facial expressions. The cinematography was great as was the story. A great flick - I must rent it again sometime!

Misery is a great flick, one of the best based-on-king´s book-films.

Yeah I just watched Misery again last night for my third time. Such a great movie. I love movies with very few charecters and only 1 or 2 settings.

And when I layed in bed that night before I went to sleep, in the pitch black I could imagine Kathy Bates leaning over my bed staring at me. Creeeeeppy

I loved the book, and I think the film is on par with it, probably because they didn't mess with King's magic formula. :)
It's very exciting, thrilling and very, very tense.
There was only one thing that niggled me about this movie...it was one HELL of a coincidence to be rescued by your biggest fan. :o
