I have a hard time believing that this movie is not on DVD nor VHS in the states. Does anyone know when they plan to release one?

you cant get it at Davidlynch.com. However there are several imported versions available. I own an Australian region 4 version. Looks pretty good. I hear that David Lynch is planning on remastering this himself and releasing it on DVD at some point in the future... who knows when that will be. But if you want one from Japan, Australia, or some other region, check out Ebay. I got mine for about 25 bucks. peace

ah the uk edition ain't that great it's full screen and only has a teaser trailer for an extra. Cheap though.

Anyway on the 23rd of Jan the following was posted on davidlynch.com chat room:

"DAVIDLYNCH <7:39 PM PST>: NOW I HAVE TO GO -- IT WAS GOOD SEEING YOU ALL TONIGHT .... ERASERHEAD IS COMING"

Ok, Eraserhead it SUPPOSED to be fullscreen. Too many people assume that widescreen is always better, and that you will always see more picture content that way. In actuallity, if you have a widescreen copy of Eraserhead, it has been cropped on the top and/or bottom. There are countless other examples of this.

I would wait for the official Lynch remastered version anyways, if youre a hardcore fan. Alot of care has to be taken into transfering a black and white, high contrast movie, such as Eraserhead, to DVD. No version available on DVD now is perfect, Lynch knows this, and i'm sure his re-release will be great. Cheers

Good luck on finding that 'cheap VHS'. The only VHS tape that I can recall finding was at Scarecrow Video in Seattle. It was a tape released in 1983, and you have to make a damage deposit of $2000 before renting it, because it's so hard to find.

Just get an import DVD. I have a Japanese one, and it's not bad. It's the movie, at least.

You can find EraserHead in a couple of low profile Video stores to rent but not to buy which sucks cause Eraserhead is David Lynch's Best movie ever!

Eraserhead is available at Davidlynch.com in the store. The bad news is that the things going to cost around $50 with s/h. kinda steep.. You can buy like 3 or 4 DVDs for that price. But hes David Lynch, and he knows people will buy it for that price, so if your a hardcore fan its the only way to go.

Yep. He finally issued it, remastered and everything. $48 bucks with shipping in the US. Unfortunately theres a bunch of other countries that he cant ship it to. Killer packaging -- comes with an 18 page booklet with cast and crew photos, storyboards, etc. Extras? theres an hour and a half video of Lynch talking about the making of, and other aspects of Eraserhedad ... BONUS !!!! Also, I was wrong before about the aspect ratio... there have been many conflicting stories. This was originally issued on laserdisc and video as fullscreen... But this transfer is widescreen 1.85, and anamorphic too! Mine should be here in a few days. :D
