Well, it looks like Josh Harnett is going to be him, but then he did rather disappointingly as an actor after THE FACULTY.

I'd go with Tom Welling who plays Clark Kent on "Smallville", but then he probably won't make it.

i also agree that smallville "tom welling" would alsdo be great but i disagree with jude law and christian bale even though he is a great actor.

Christian Bale? Sure. Guy Peace? No, kinda puny. Tom Welling? That'd get confusing with the Smallville thing. Josh Hartnett? No, terrible actor.

Whoa, I just wasted my time writing a whole list of potential Supermans on another thread... crap!

Anyway, I think ADAM GARCIA from Coyote Ugly should play Superman. Dark hair, blue eyes, and a butt chin, dude, wassup? He's SO Superman! Unfortunately, he's only like 5'11", and.. that's short right? I think that Joe Millionaire looks the part, after he cuts his perm, and like, take drama classes.

Hmmm... I was going to say COLIN FARRELL, but he owns Bullseye and he fits more of a Batman, and I was going to say HUGH JACKMAN, but dude, he's Wolverine!

TOM CRUISE? I know he's like old, but, I still think he could still do action. I could totally picture him as a Clark Kent, but, not really embody the whole Superman suit. And about ASHTON KUTCHER (or however you spell it), I think the characters he played will kind of jeopardize Superman's seriousness. Like, I can't take him seriously. He looks the part, but.. I dunno, he needs a Bow Flex, or a Cross Bow (those are workout equipment type thingies).

Oh yea, I was going to recco LUKE WILSON. He looks the part, and that suicide scene in The Royal Tenenbaums was pretty serious. I don't know.. too dorky?

Hmm... Who else is out there? That guy playing the Hulk would've done a good job, but he owns the Hulk now.

cheers!

I think Tom Welling from Smallville would make the best one, he already has the Superman persona down, they should just wait to do the movie till Smallville is finished, that way it would feel more complete. Thats just my opinion.

That is sickening...who would ever think of casting Ashton Kutcher...
if you think Brenden Frasier is too goofy (which i agree with, he is) Ashtone is even more so...
I would hate to see Ashton or Brenden as supeman...

you need a new up and comer kinda actor...or someone not that well known...
DEFINITELY NOT tom cruise.... i would vomit if he was selected

some suggestions like Christian Bale are alright...Tom Welling may pull it off, but they'd have to make him look older and mature and then it'd get all confusing when he goes back to smallville etc...Adam Garcia, maybe....

Jude Law was suggested, he has the face and experience, but he's too small and skinny
Colin Farrel would make a great batman, not superman

Moviefan1234

Of the three they are now considering I'd go with either Walker or Fraser.

Silverload
02-27-2003, 05:48 PM
Well if that is the top three they have (thank god Ashton Kutcher turned the role down) it looks there is only a choice of the lesser evil now. I think the best choice is Brendan Fraser, even though I think he is a very poor choice for Superman he is the best out of those three.

krez98
03-01-2003, 01:28 AM
Considering that the current plan for Superman is a triology, logic would say the beginning needs to be at the beginning of
Supe's career, so why don't they simply tie it in with Smallville and keep Tom Welling, he is easily the closest thing to Superman since Christopher Reeves, and definitly has the role down. At this poing being a fan of the show, I would be disappointed to see anyone else play Superman.Tom Welling

Newyorkjared

I think the best candidate to play Superman in Victor Webster. Now for all of you who are scratching your heads, he is an actor on the show Mutant X. I think he is the best person for the job. Everyone else mentioned for the part doesnt quite seem right. Vote Webster!!! He has the look, the physique, and the talent. In my opinion he is the best choice. If you can think of someone better, please let me know.

I do feel that Tom Welling would be good for the part but not right now. Maybe if the movie was going to be made ten years from now. He still looks too young to be the Man of Steel. Until he grows out of his pampers, he will be known as the Boy of Steel. Yet, they still could use him in the movie after all, just not as the main star. In the first Superman movie they did show him growing up in Smallville. So, they could use him in an origin flashback.

Right now i can care less because all i am looking forward to seeing is X2.

Thats just my 2 cents....Take it or leave it!

Angel Star to Play Superman?
Press reports say television vamp will sink teeth into red cape.

February 28, 2003 - Welcome to the ongoing headache that is covering the casting of Superman. Just when you thought the news couldn't get stranger comes word from the UK that the hunt for the man who will wear the big blue suit is finally over.

So, is it goodbye fangs and hello Krypton for Angel? According to UK's Hello Magazine and Daily Express, David Boreanaz, star of The WB's Angel, has signed a three-picture deal to star in three Superman films for Warner Brothers and director Brett Ratner. If true, the deal would be for over $30 million for the actor's services in the three films. According to the reports, the films may be shooting in Australia.

Calls to Boreanaz's agent and manager for confirmation of the story weren't returned by press time. If one of television's favorite vampires does hang up the long coat in favor of a long, red cape, he will have beaten out some of Hollywood's young A-list for the part, including Josh Hartnett, That 70's Show star Ashton Kutcher, Jude Law and Brendan Fraser.

According to the UK reports, current plans are for Boreanaz to continue his role in the popular vampire drama while performing his duties as The Man of Steel but with an anticipated mid-2003 start date, that may not be feasible. So, then, where does that leave Angel? The WB hasn't made a final decision whether or not it will renew the series but if it interferes with the potential revival of one of the studio's flagship franchises, look for the series to leave the schedule. Without its lead, there would be no chance of the series making the jump to UPN, leaving the rumored spin-off series the only hope for Buffy fans wanting more out of that franchise.

I dont think Warner understands that a 3 picture deal is useless if no one likes the first one.

Lets hope this is false.

Tom Welling from Smallville. I hope they find someone that's not a pretty boy actor. For some reason I picture Seth Green or Jake Gllynhaal. I think maybe Jake because he's not much of a pretty boy but he's also a good actor. See Donnie Darko and The Good Girl to find what I mean

FunkDaddy
03-15-2003, 09:50 PM
The hard part is not finding who's right for the part, it's finding somebody who can do it at least half as good as Christopher Reeve, he is and always will be Superman.

Tom Welling would be good only if they could find some way to tie the movie in with the television series for a believeable "transition". I believe he has a big movie career ahead of him when Smallville ends, it's only natural that he would start it by starring in the Superman movies.

Dean Caine was good, but I don't want to see him on the big screen, he just doesn't have "it".

My bet would go to a relative unknown. Being Superman doesn't need extraordinary acting chops. It's really about getting the right look. Brett Ratner can get a good performance out of anybody, very competent director.

Kevin Smith. Think about it, he knows the Superman stories inside out, front to back. If they use his script and let him direct, it would be awesome. Superman: Matt Damon would work, and I could kind of see Brendan Fraser but I don't think he would work out. I've got two people in mind: 1. Billy Crudup, but he would have to be really committed to selling-out. 2. Billy Campbell who, at 43, may be a little old to sign on to sequels, but I think he'd do great for at least the first film. While I'm stuck on Billys, might as well throw in Zane if the producers don't mind somebody who couldn't play Clark Kent to save his life.

Director: Kevin Smith. Everyone else would be a big step down the ladder. My secondary choices would be Doug Liman (busy with Bourne trilogy) and Sam Raimi (busy with Spidey franchise). Oh well, looks like it'll have to be Smith.

I think Ridley Scott would be an excellent choice to direct this movie. So would Kevin Smith but i heard somewhere that the script he wrote was pretty bad.. Also didn't the guy that directed The 6th Sense offer to write and direct this movie for WB? but they turned him down  That sucks cause he seems to be a pretty big fan and knows quite a bit about comic books (see Unbreakable) I think he would have been a great choice.

I've been thinking about this question quite a bit and a name came to mind just last night. I think Nick Wechsler (Kyle Valenti of Roswell) could probably pull off Superman. He's got the right look, attitude and age for the part and he's not a bad actor.

I think Superman should be black. I mean there are almost no black superheroes.Okey, so maybe there's Meteor Man and Blank Man but there just a disgrace to the black community.I say they pick a real man someone like Eddie Murphie. Just think about it. It would be bigger than Spider- Man

There are major kick ass black superheroes through out comics. To name a few there are Blade, Spawn, Steel (the movie might have been crap but the comic was good), Chapel (more of an anti-hero, but still cool as hell), Black Panther, Bishop, War Machine, etc… And the last truly great iconic superhero was Spawn.

Meteor Man and Blank Man are not true superhero movies, they are superhero parodies.

I don't know If I could see Brendand Fraser in the role. He could do the Clark Kent bit, but I don't know about Superman.

Victor Webster, Michael Bergin, Christian Bale, Adam Garcia, Matthew Davis, Johnathon Schaech, Jay Hernandez, Scott Foley....I don't know who exactly. Then again a newcome may surprise but since Eric Bana, Ben Affleck and Tobey Maguire all made the unlikeliest superheroes, the studio may surprise us, if the film ever gets made of course.

As for directors, Kevin Smith, Ridley Scott, David Fincher and J.J. Abrams wouldn't be bad behind the camera.

For Lex, I wouldn't mind seeing Anthony Hopkins, John Malkovich, Stellan Skarsgard or Gary Oldman in the role.

As for Lois, Rhona Mitra, Courteney Cox-Arquette, Christina Applegate, Neve Campbell, Thandie Newton, Alyssa Milano or Cameron Diaz. There are many possibilities, again it all depends on when the hell this film is gonna get its s**t together.

Billy Zane could pull off Lex quite nicely I think.

Luke Wilson could make a decent Supes if he packed on some muscle, I know Superman doesn't necessarily have to be jacked but he has to have more muscle than Luke has on his frame. Out of all the choices circulating though, I'd say Brendan Fraser or Christian Bale.

I still say Kevin Smith is the man that should be behind the camera for a Superman movie.

All have a certain Superman-esque look to them.

Actually, I think Peck would make the best BATMAN ever. He's the perfect working man's hero. If you've ever read the comic Kingdom Come, Gregory Peck is the model for Batman, and it fits SO perfectly.

And by now I know that everyone has heard that Johnny Depp is being strongly considered for the Lex Luthor role right? Supposedly he read for the role, and did something unique, a la Jack Sparrow. (I'm not saying he's playing Luthor like Sparrow, I'm just saying he did somethng that they didn't expect).

That's not very nice. You get booted from the site for shit like that. I reccomend reading the rules again, and an apology before Jo gets wind of this shit.

The Rock

He has the square jaw type of look that you associate with Supermn, and he's very cut. I was suprised at how good of an actor he was and I think he would make a pretty good Superman.
Catherine Zeta Jones as Louis Lane

I would like to see Dean Cain as superman personally. But the say that hes too old ro play the part. As for Tom Welling, he says that he cant make a movie as long as the series is on tv.

But if I had to pick I would pick Dean Cain.

While I realize that he has already said he wont, I still believe Nicholas Cage would make a good Superman.

Other than that, ofcourse, the Rock would be good maybe Bruce Willis, though he is kind of old for the part.
