I have posted this message once before, but noone answered. So I am posting it again:

Can someone please explain what it means when you say that somebody's set up as an obvious victim.
Kelley Meeker were an obvious victim. (said on of you)
Brady was an obvious victim (said on of you)

What does that mean?
I think that the cheating boyfriend subplot is pretty interesting. And Kelley is also needed for that to work.

In Halloween, weren't Lynda, Bob and Annie set up as obvious victims? And Tatum in Scream? Or any victim in any horror movies.

And why are Jodie Lyn O'Keefe and Adam Hann-Byrd obvious victims? Would H20 be as exciting if it was just Michelle Williams and Josh Hartnett alone? Then who would die?

I'm not sure if I understand your question.

When someone says that a character is set up as an "obvious victom", its means that they act like someone shouldn't act in a horror movie, or break the horror movie "rules".

Examples:
1. Horny bastards will always die (in H20 Adam Hann-Byrd was a horny bastard, he died)
2. Someone who is mean or thinks they are better than someone else will always die (The sluts in Friday the 13th Parts VII and VIII)

It's just natural for me man. I can just tell from a character's introduction if they are marked to die. Follow the rules mostly. After you watch so much horror, it's hard to miss the obvious victims.
