So in The original Friday The 13th, when Jason died did his mom find him and he was talking, or did his spirit stay with her and say kill em' mommy??? Maybe she was a fruitcake...Was Mrs.Voorheese just a fruitcake?

This relates to the first Friday, so this thread is being sent on a one-way trip to the Past Horror Movies forum, via Crystal Lake.

She was insane. She was basically acting out a conversation with her long thought dead son. Well, that's the most obvious explanation, anyway,

I've always felt it was Jason's spirit. As far as the first film is concerned Jason is supposed to be dead. He's a ghost.

There are two reasons why I believe this. The last victim to be killed (The girl on the archery range) heard the cry of a child coming from outside. No, not the sound of a middle-aged-woman PRETENDING to be a child, but an ACTUAL child.

Then there's the age difference. Jason would have been in his early 30s if her were still alive at the time of Part 1. But the little gimp that flops about in the lake is certainly no older than 11. The police also never found a body alluding to my theory that Alice was attacked by some sort of phantasm.

That's why I think he was originally intended to be a ghost. But the sequels pretty much reversed that.

That's a very interesting theory Razorblade, and very plausible as well. I hadn't given any thought to this.

Ya know, imo, It actually makes the original F13TH much creepier. Maybe Jason's vengeful spirit is what the old times were referring too the camp's supposed ''Death curse''?

Hmmm...the ending does imply the prescence of Jason's ghost, with that dream and the final shot of the lake. We don't know exactly what the filmmakers had in mind, but I really don't think that they meant for Jason to have survived. I seem to recall that the writer said he didn't have a sequel in mind when he did it.

Hmm, That's also interesting Cyclonus, I hadn't known that.

Yeah, though at this point it's very hard to fathom.
