I love all horror, but one of my fave types is the cheap, cheesy, "B" grade seventies flicks.

Basket Case is probably my fave, when Belial throws a mental fit in his hotel room, because he can't get decent reception on his t.v..... anyone else adore this gem?

I also love "Mother's Day", that's a great one...

discuss?

And I'm brand new here, sorry if you guys have already covered this stuff!

woohoo..a basket case fan!!

althought parts 2 and 3 were pretty awful, the first is one of my all time favorites (as evident by the handle)

mother's day is great flick as well, i remember seeing that while on vacation in miami, fla back in 1980.

they don't make 'em like they used to!

Hey! It's my "sister"....creepy Carrie....creepy Carrie! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

You already know my fondness for cheesy horror flicks, and 'Basket Case' TOTALLY fits the bill! How about the director's other classics....'Brain Damage' and 'Frankenhooker'???

I've only seen Basket Case 3, which i thought was pretty enjoyable. As for mothers day i thought taht was one of the worst movies ever, just something about it was so wrong, and ive been searching forever for basket case 1 and 2, because i enjoy b-grade cheese.

Basket Case 2 is actually my favorite out of the trilogy, but the original is a b-movie gem. The epitome of low-budget cheese. At the beginning of the film, when Duane whips out a wad of cash to pay for his hotel room, the money featured is the budget! That's all the funding that Henenlotter had to work with!

JEWBO I didn't know part 2 and 3 were on DVD. I loved part 1. But how did his brother survive that fall from part 1? Plus Brain Damage is another one of my all times favorites.

Hey sexy Carrie!!!!! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif As you already know (I think) I still have yet to see this movie. I know you've been raving about it for a long time, and maybe one day I'll get my butt up and go rent it! I know that if you like it, it's gotta be good!

Basket Case 2&3 are not on dvd in America. You need an all code player to watch them. Part one is still the best, but I like the sequals too.
*Spoilers*
Part 2 opens at the very end of part one as Belial and Dwayne are taken to the hospital. Belial wakens Dwayne telepathically and they escape the hospital to be saved by a lady who takes in freaks and hides them from the rest of the world.

Hey Cute (but slow... ha ha )Tommy Doyle!!

Yes, my dear, this is one for your must rent list!!

Now, that we've gotten some GREAT reactions, I'd like to list some other parts of the first film that I love the most.

As already stated, as far as I'm concerned, Belial's tour de force comes in the hotel rage scene.

I mean, Jesus, hasn't the poor guys been through enough?!

He gets left alone (again) so Dwayne can try to go score with that moronic chick from the Dr.'s office, and he just wants to watch some tv, dammit!!

I love the entire scene, especially those weird pseudo-claymtion parts where he whips the dresser drawer across the room, and then the chair.

But the crowning glory of the scene is when Belial hides in the toilet.... it's funny, yet sad at the same time.

And finally, when he's slamming the corner of the bed onto the floor over and over again... poor little bastard.

I always felt bad for Belial.
He was always getting the shaft.

I love that wacked-out woman that Dwayne winds up "dating", the one who looked like she was going to murder him when he confessed he hadn't done much sightseeing...

The cheesy porn sounding music.... the names of the characters... I mean, Dr. Needle and Dr. Kutterman ? Pure cheesy genius.

I've seen both 2 and 3, but nothing can ever top this first one.

Finally, I love the ending of the film, where Dwayne is hanging off that big sign about 30 feet in the air, screaming for his life, and some idiot bystander goes...

"Hey! Are you okay up there?"

It just doesn't get any better than this film.

I've always thought that Belial threw a stop-motion temper tantrum because of Duane pursuing a significant other, not because of the poor reception on his TV set. I could be wrong, but I've always perceived it that way.

I'm pretty sure it was because of the telepathic link between Belial and Duane and Duane being with the woman instead of his brother.

Hey Ro - NO! I have yet to get this on DVD?
In fact, I don't think I've even seen it for sale on DVD anywhere, but it's gotta be out there somewhere...

Count Chocula and Belial.... yes, I know you guys are probably more accurate with that explanation for the fit.

It's just that my best friend and I used to crack up laughing at that scene, where his deformed little hand reaches out of the basket, and he tries to change the channel.

It's at that exact point that he goes BALLISTIC - as you recall, he shoves the set on the floor, and that kind of triggers the whole rage....

I guess I thought it was funnier thinking he was ripshit, cause on top of everything else, he's like - "Jesus! I can't even watch tv!!"

He seemed relatively "ok" up until that point.

** Other highlights....

When Belial steals the woman's underwear...
then at the end after he has sex with Duane's dead girlfriend, and his eyes light up red.

I also love the noises he makes in the hotel room/rage scene when he throws the drawer
and the chair across the room.

When he makes those noises, I'm doubled over laughing!!

GOD! I love this flick!!!!

hell yes, basketcase kicks ass. got the special edition dvd and love it. havent seen the sequals, but the first is one of the strangest most unique expierences i have ever had.

you know the bar in it is an S&M club now? wierd shit eh?

interesting piece of trivia, on insomniac with dave atell, he stops at that very S&M club to talk to the owner. they didnt mention basketcase, but i remembered the name and its the same one. i cant remember the name now, its mentioned in the documentary on where basketcase was shot on the dvd.
