Britney Fights Drug Allegations


"Pop princess Britney Spears is suing an American magazine after they claimed she took cocaine in a Florida nightclub. US tabloid The Star quotes a member of the sexy singer's entourage claiming Britney snorted the class A drug in the VIP toilets of the Crobar Club in Miami on November 14 last year. The un-named source tells Star, "Britney was in town to listen to work producers had done on her next album. We spent the next two hours drinking and dancing, mostly with other friends of hers. Britney kept on twitching her nose. Later, I was told that a friend of hers purchased some coke earlier in the evening and her friends started snorting at the club before I arrived." The source adds, "We were just sitting around a table when one of her other guy friends turned to her, me and another girl and said, 'Let's go.' No one made any mention that we were going down to do some coke. We just silently followed him away from the table and toward the VIP bathroom. Once we were in, the guy cleans off the toilet top with a tissue and then takes out some cocaine. Using his driver license, he chopped it up into four lines." The friend says Britney took a dollar bill after the friend used it to snort up the cocaine and did a line herself. He says, "When we were finished, Britney turned to the girl and said, 'Check me, check me,' rocked her head back and motioned toward her nose.' The friend inspected Britney's nostrils as Britney rubbed them, saying, 'You look okay.' Then Britney checked the girl's nose to make sure none of the white powder was showing before they left the bathroom." But the superstar has reacted furiously to the allegations. Her spokeswoman Nathalie Moar tells British tabloid The Sun, "There is absolutely no truth to this story whatsoever. Lawyers for Miss Spears are filing a defamation suit as we speak." A source at Britney's record label Jive adds, "Britney is very upset about this."



For some reason I don't buy this rumor, but it could be true. She just doesn't seem like the druggie type to me.

I used to be in love with her when she first came out up until recently. She seemed really cute and a nice girl. Now I can't stand her attitude, she's trying too hard cause she knows her career is on the skids.

I believe it, we all do stupid things at times.

thats a very valid point. id like to see more proof. but on the same count, u have to wonder if there is some truth behind it...


whether she is an addict or not though...what can we say from one supposed line of coke. which may not have happened. to use the word addict on the basis of that is a bit strong. its like saying i am an alcoholic because i had a pint yesterday...

well actually its nothing like that, but its the best analogy i can come up with before i run for the train lol!

but britney when she came out probably wouldnt do drugs. but fame can do very very strange things to people...

There's something really fishy about that story - I don't think there's much truth to it. But with her fame and recent looseness, it really wouldn't surprise me all that much to hear that she did the odd coke snort.

I dont see what the big deal is. Drugs are basically OK if used moderately. Lord knows I have done my share of drugs, and I have turned out OK (depending on who you ask). I say let the girl party and have fun, its nobodies business what she does.

Now if Britney puts out a really good album, then I would be worried, because that may mean she is doing a lot of drugs!

If the allegations are false, don't you think she would have taken it a little better? Knowing that she didn't do what she did is fine enough, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. So that's why I am skeptical. She reacted very harshly, almost as though she wants to cover it up because she did do it. I don't really care, but I mean jesus, she could have handled it more professionally.

So IMO too, it's not far-fetched that the girl would try blow then. And if she didn't, she's bound to do it in the future; it's inevitable.

Well I do, because I love the girl and I actually think she is very talented. And if it were true it would be very upsetting to me, but I don't think it's true.

shes a record company puppet. and one whos music hasnt been doing so well recently. talented is very much an overstatement, she is pretty and she can sing, but there are people who are prettier and can sing a hell of a lot better than she can who have never had the chance.


as for the drugs rumours. how can you tell? fame does strange things to a person, and people go off the rails all the time.

Well I disagree. I don't think there is anyone prettier than her. Though I will admit she's not the greatest singer in the world I think she is one of the more talented ones, though admittedly I'm not much of a music person. How can I tell? I saw an interview of her on Access Hollywood about some event where she spoke about some kind of cancer awareness that one her relatives had suffered and she seemed perfectly fine not like a drug addict. And was it you or someone else who said in a thread about Jennifer Lopez to trust your instinct more than what you read? Well, mine says that she doesn't seem like that. She seems like she's very close to her mother and that in itself makes it less likely that she has a drug problem.

one interview makes her not seem like a drug addict? how can u tell from interview? and it wasnt me that said that about ur instincts...but my insincts are saying no smoke without fire.


as for the prettiness? well thats subjective, but shes not a bad choice. certainly better than christina slag-ulera.

i have known a fair few drug addicts and some of those are close to their mothers. yes there is a chance a close family tie might help. but then again, being close to your mom doesnt mean that u can be a drug addict. at all. at the end of the day, it would still be britneys choice. just because she is close to her mother, doesnt neccesarily preclude drugs use.
