From the news section of http://www.imdb.com/ :
Bono Considered for Nobel Peace Prize
U2 rocker Bono is being considered for a shock Nobel Peace Prize. The Irish singer is competing with the head of the Catholic Church, Pope John Paul II, for the prestigious title, previously awarded to such international pacifist icons such as the Dalai Lama. Geir Lundestad, the head of the Norwegian Nobel Institute, says, "We have a total of 150 nominees so far, of which 21 are organizations." But Bono, who is being recognized for his tireless effort to shed more light on the AIDS epidemic in Africa, has some tough competition - according to Lundestad, if United Nations weapons inspector Hans Blix can prevent a war between America and Iraq, he'll be a favorite. Lundestad says, "If he succeeds in getting Iraq to disarm sufficiently to prevent the United States and Britain from going to war, he deserves it."
OK, some of you may scoff. Some of you may laugh. Some of you may say "What the fuck?!?!?!" But Bono, whatever you may think of him musically, has worked his ass off to raise awareness of the AIDS situation in Africa, making dozens of trips, going on talk shows, organizing fundraiser after fundraiser to stop this disease. I say he definitely deserves it - but maybe not this year. With an AIDS vaccine likely only a decade or less away, I think that the time for him to receive this is once the disease is ended. Then he can truly look at his great accomplishment. Opinions?
