Do you think this was a good movie or over-rated? I like it and own it, but some of it was alittle too graphic. Anyone agree?

I just finished it....I really dont know what to make of it yet, though. I'll have to see it again before I can really say Anything at all about it!!

Well it was good, but I'm debating whether I'm into the ending or not.. like, whether It could've done with something after...well.....you know...

I've seen this thing for sale, but so far I can't find it at any local video rental. I sure as hell don't want to buy it. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/redface.gif

I picked this up for a couple of bucks at a yard sale. Why these old folks had this in their video collection I have no idea. Might want to stay away from that neighborhood. Anyway you guys are right. Stay away from this one, unless your into some disturbing shit. The rape scene goes on for WAY too long and the end deaths are too quick and far fetched.

Hey guys, Im fairly sure that you know better then to discuss this kind of stuff on the boards. If you want to share shopping tips, I would appreciate it if you would use some other means.

This thread is for discussing I Spit On Your Grave.

Thanks.

I enjoyed this movie even though the rape scene are way too long and graphic but it does add too the story. It shows why she went insane and gives her revenge scenes more meaning....Remeber its just a movie.

As far as everyone saying this movie was to graphic??? lol I dont really understand that, I will take a movie as graphic as I can get my paws on. Never heard horror fans say a movie was to graphic.... but oh well. as far as the movie its highly overrated. but by no means to graphic.

There were only three times I questioned The Arrow's sanity, his reviews of "Battlefield Earth", "Warlock III" and "I Spit On Your Grave". Fair enough, everyone is entitled to their opinion but I found little to reccomend any of them... at least the first two I just mentioned had moments of unintentional hilarity that gave them a kinda camp appeal...

"I Spit On Your Grave" struck me as a distaff rip-off of "Deliverance"...maybe if I hadn't seen that movie beforehand I would've enjoyed this one more. I doubt it though : I'm off the "less is more" school with regards to sex and violence in movies generally - you don't HAVE to put it in to bring the message across. I know that rape is bad. I don't need to see a half hour rape scene to figure that out. The sick people who do need to be told that might even find such a graphic scene stimulating. The sex and violence in "I Spit On Your Grave" was so graphic I began to wonder if some of it wasn't really faked.

I think if you want to make a statement about violence the best way is to show the psychological/emotional impact on the victims/perpetrators after the fact.

But that's my opinion.

Still, like "Last Temptation Of Christ", "Crash" and "Lolita" this is one of those controversial films that you can at least say "Yes, I've seen it" and it tends to provoke interesting discussions. I guess that's one good thing I can say about it.

Sorry if this offends but it seems the majority here like graphic HORROR, not graphic sexual assault. I believe that is what they meant. And in that department, yea it does go on a little too long for anyone's taste. As for the violence (revenge on attackers) um-no- that isn't graphic. Barely any blood. There is a difference.

I Spit On Your Grave is actually supposedly next on Elite's Millenium Edition DVD schedule. Night of the Living Dead,
Re-Animator, I Spit On Your Grave. One of those doesn't belong. Theres also the current version they have at stores everywhere now.
I've never seen the movie, and don't plan on it. 40 minute rape scenes are not for me. It doesn't strike me as 2-Disc Millenium Edition DVD worthy movie.
