I saw this movie maybe three times between the ages of 7-9. I can't remember a whole lot about it except it was about some guys psychotic mother, who looked like she wore moss to camo herself in the woods. And at the end the heroes and heroines kill her by way of a giant spear trap. Is any of this accurate? And you can remember anything else, let me know...including where I could dig up a copy of this old flick. Thanks.:D

I've heard of it. It's one of those movies I always see in the video store and plan to eventually see, but forget. Is it any good?

From what I remember it was decent. Like I said though, I was between 7 and 9 yrs old. I'm now 22. It was quite different though and it had a cool sex scene in a creek and both the guy and girl get butchered.

It's been awhile since I've seen this movie, but I seem to remember the killer being male not female. Anyway, yes, he/she does cover her/himself in moss and get whacked by a big spear at the end.
While it's pretty much a slasher movie, it forgoes the usual body count route and goes more for suspense and atmosphere. Out of around eight or so people, only two or three get killed off, and fairly bloodlessly. (There is a sort of "prologue" at the beginning where a couple gets killed off, but one gets the impression that this was tacked on after the fact to elevate the body count.)
Frankly, I thought this was a pretty good movie, which boasts good performances by the cast (including then-unknowns Rachel Ward and Daryl Hannah), and realistic character reactions. When bodies are discovered people freak out, and instead of going skinny-dipping or engaging in premarital fornication, the group decides to get the fuck outta there. Intelligence is always an endearing quality.
Like I said, the beginning seems tacked on, and the ending is a bit too rushed, like the production was almost out of film and had to wrap things up, but overall "The Final Terror" is a solid and unusually suspenseful slasher flick.

Isn't this from the director of The Fugitive?
I heard rumors they the budjet ran low so they had to change it around a bit.

That might explain the ending.

I only know of the VHS release wwaayy back in the 80s, but you never know, it might get picked up on DVD. I did a quick check of eBay and found a couple copies. You can take a look at them here (http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2 F&krd=1&from=R8&MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&query=the+final+terror).

I own a copy of this movie but it's too dark and the audio is out of synch with what happens on the screen so you can't properly enjoy it. Can anyone explain to me what happened when they went into that abandoned cabin in the woods? What was it that scared them so much? All in all, not a bad movie but the story was pretty much lost on me because of the bad video transfer.
Andrew Davis went on to direct a couple of very decent Steven Seagal movies, as well as The Fugitive, Chain Reaction, and the abysmal Collateral Damage.

Mind you it's been an awfully long time since I've seen this movie -- back in the late 80s -- but I believe they found the bodies of their friends, didn't they?

Final Terror is another one of those hard to track down type of movies which I wish would have a dvd treatment. Cause like someone said above the movie is pretty dark and the sound/audio is not the best. But I throroughly enjoy this movie for its awesome atmosphere and its good story. Can't really explain the story cause it gives away the identity of the killer and its accomplice but if you like movies like Deliverance and Rituals you should like this. It also has a good cast of Daryl Hannah, Adrian Zmed, Rachel Ward, Joe Pantoliano and a good director of Andrew Davis. This is a good early 80's slasher and it often overlooked

I found The Final Terror pretty engaging. It wasn't so run of the mill in it's run of the mill-ness, if that makes any sense. But I agree that the ending just doesn't feel right. It's pretty silly and very abrupt. It was probably another slasher that suffered from the clamp of the Reagan era as well as it seems pretty bloodless. I had fun with it though. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I found this film at my local Suncoast before it closed. It was pretty well done, though it could've used more of Joey Pants--but doesn't everything?

Just another 80's slasher for me, a load of crap. Not very interesting or memorable or some crappy acting, I can remember very little of it actually.
