It gets repetitive, but it's a strong supernatural chiller. The acting is refined and the ending wraps everything up in a nice little bow (tee-hee). Visit these threads for other opinions...

It's definitely enjoyable. The pace is slow, but that's to allow the suspense to build. At times, it's more like a character drama than horror film, but it's suitably creepy.

The ending is over-explained, although that's not too big of an annoyance, in my opinion.

Here's my blurb:

Mothman Prophecies, The- (6.5/10)
Info: (2001) PG-13, Richard Gere, Laura Linley
Runtime: 1 hour 59 mins
Genre: Drama/Thriller
Tagline: “What Do You See?”
Comments: A below average thriller about a Washington Post writer named John Klein (Gere) whose wife is killed in a car accident after being distracted by a “mothlike” creature while driving. Two years later Klein stumbles across a town in West Virginia where the residents are plagued by the same “mothlike” being. He must find out what this thing is and what its purpose is. The story is sometimes confusing and there are plot holes all over place. And for being a thriller it certainly doesn’t thrill as much as it should. Richard Gere gives a mediocre performance in a mediocre film. There’s really nothing that jumps out at you or any real memorable scenes. For anyone who has seen the Kevin Costner film “Dragonfly”, you’ll see striking similarities between the two films. In both atmosphere, and even sometimes plot structure. That’s not a good thing though because I didn’t like “Dragonfly” either.
Dialogue-6.5/10 (Nothing too extravagant)
Violence/Gore- 2/10 (A few scenes have violent overtones)
T&A- 0/10 (None that I can remember)

It's good enough, probably the only good film Richard Gene ever made. Ever. Boy he does suck ass. Oh yeah, I guess it would be worth it. I liked it.

I had high anticipation for this film, but ended up disappointed. I found it to be dull and wasn't affected by the "scares" they offered.

2/4

The Mothman Prophecies - C

It seemed to be they didn't really want to make a suspenseful and intriguing film, they wanted to do all the camera "styles" they could possibly do. I thought the movie was very boring and VERY overstylised. I did like the last sequence though.
