PLOT:

Mandy Moore stars as Halley, a young high school student who is disillusioned with love after seeing the many dysfunctional relationships around her. Her father has a pretty new girlfriend who she can't stand. Her mother can't seem to find anyone. Her sister is so dumbstruck with the planning of her marriage that she has become a
non-person, and the shallow cheerleaders at her school and their jock boyfriends are beyond comprehension. All these have combined to convince Halley that love is a ridiculous impossibility. But when a tragic event in her life leads to a romantic encounter with a young man, Halley realizes the possibility of true love can sometimes lie in the most unconventional of places.

I got to see the trailer for this before How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days this last weekend, and to my surprise, it looks MUCH better than I was expecting. I really want to check this one out. It looks a little edgier than a lot of teen movies, and the trailer really won me over. Mandy Moore is certainly going to have a better movie career than Britney Spears, Mandy's certainly more talented. I actually wish I didn't have to wait so damn long to see it, July 18th seems like it's a long ways away. How To Deal certainly looks better than most teen flicks anyway.

What does everyone else think?

I think I'll pass on this one. I'm looking more forward to that Moore movie where she descends into "a world of sex, drugs, and alcohol" that was announced this morning

This one I'll see. Not looking forward to it with Down with Love-sized expectations, but, nice song at the end of the trailer and decent cast.

...even if the name is wretched

Are you serious? Or am I just gullable? I definitely wouldn't mind if she really was in a movie like that, but I just can't picture it.

Well, there you go everyone. If Annie Hall aproves then it must be something special, because she has only the best of taste in movies. Even if she still hasn't seen Kissing Jessica Stein yet, but that's her loss ;)...

I watched the trailer for this with my mate, we then looked at the release date and groaned :( It looks like a sweet little movie and the trailer suggests that it has some more depth than most teen movies - definitely gonna catch this one :)

I love teen movies, and this one looks interesting. Mandy Moore was great in A Walk To Remember.

I was imagining I was making a movie with Mandy Moore yesterday, so of course Im going to see it. She did a marvelous job in Walk to Remember. Shes good at working with new actors. eh.

Mandy definitely impressed me in A WALK TO REMEMBER.

She is an incomparable beauty, with very obvious charms. A statuesque goddess... simply exquisite.
I'll definitely be checking this flick out, as she's succeeded in making this schmoe a fan of her work.

HOW TO DEAL doesn't look all that great, but Mandy Moore is legitimately very beautiful, and seems to have a talent for acting too, unlike Britney Spears. I'm actually looking forward more to SAVED which comes out later in the summer; that movie costars Jena Malone and Mandy plays a really uptight Christian girl who forces her opinions on others. It sounds like a darker and more satirical script than the teen movies she's done so far. This Stephen Gaghan script sounds like a move in the right direction too; remember, he wrote "Traffic" which had a great performance from the similarly angelic looking Erika Christensen as a good girl gone bad. But I will probably go see anything that Mandy does, just for purely visual reasons :)

mandy is a cutie, but that didnt get me to see walk to remember, still hasnt....depending on this ones trailer i may change my mind, hell hopefully i will....its not like i want to hate these kinds of movies....but with the case of a few its not like i want to love them either...so what im saying is that some teen love movies easily become favorites, however this doesnt look to be one of them.

PLOT:

After an optimistic but nightmarish dating spree, neurotic New York journalist Jessica Stein happens upon an intriguing personal ad whose only drawback is that it's in the 'women seeking women' section. On a daring whim, she decides to answer it and, to her surprise, ends up instantly clicking with downtown hipster Helen Cooper. The women proceed to muddle through an earnest courtship in which, with conventional gender roles absent, they are forced to make it up as they go along.

I highly recommend checking it out. It is one of the very best films of 2002 and an instant classic romantic comedy. Along with When Harry Met Sally, it's my favorite romantic comedy. Very original and funny! The reviews were great, and so is the movie. Definitely check it out! And if/when you do, don't forget to let me know what you thought ;).

Mandy Moore is certainly going to have a better movie career than Britney Spears, Mandy's certainly more talented.

Mandy Moore is a lot smarter than Britney Spears. Based on her evolving music career, chosen film projects, and TV career, I could almost safely say that she understands that the preservation of public's perception is the most important detail in staying successful. Britney and Christina, although they are wildly successful, forgot about that after their first CD.

I will see this one just for Mandy Moore. She's gorgeous, cute and astonishingly beautiful. Plus, she's very talented, unlike sluts Britney Spears and Christina Aguilerra.

Nah, I don't think I'll be seeing this one.

I'll prolly see this. A Walk To Remember was nothing I'll remember, but Mandy Moore has a chance in acting I guess. She's not that good, nor that awful. But, her new hair is just too cute.

If Mandy Moore and "sexual content" are mentioned in connection w/ the same movie, I'm there.

something tells me this will suck. its that typical teen romance film that just makes me wanna open my arm up and slowly bleed over the cinema floor.

which also means my girlfriend will make me go and see it :)
