Ok, I know that this might offend some people, but i tried to completely expalin it in the title.

What is your favorite movie against or making fun of religion?

Mine would be Monty Python's Life of Brian. That is one of the funniest movies ever made. If you haven't seen it, it details the life of the child born next to Jesus in Bethleham. People soon mistake him for the Messiah, and hilarity insues.

Another good religious satire is Sister Mary Explains it All. This is about a nun named Mary (Diane Keaton), who is giving a lecture for a reunion type thing. Some of her former students (most notably Jennifer Tilly) visit her, to perform an "alternate" version to the story of Jesus. A funny satire, with maybe one of my all time favorite lines:

"<mary reading question on cards> 'If God is all powerful, why does he allow evil in the world'.......next question!"

So, Whattda ya think?

The original Bedazzled.

Peter Cook explaining how Lucifer (him) rebelled against God is priceless.

Then later: "I used to have lots of good ideas. I thought of the Seven Deadly Sins in one day. The only good idea I've had lately is advertising..." :D

Life of Brian the most intelligent satire on christianity ever made.

The Biggus Diccus scene may be my all time favorite comedy moment.

Life of Brian is priceless. It's by far my favorite. I like Dogma, but Dogma is a little more complex. It's still funny though.

well i really like Wholly Moses with Dudley Moore a lot! i didn`t care to much for LOB. i thought it was just too ridiculous! but watching them dressed up like mid-east people was very funny! it`s just that the rest of the film, to me, was just okay!

I made my mother sit and watch Life of Brian a few years ago, and all she could talk about was how i was going to hell, and how all the people involved in the film are going to hell, and how everyone who liked it will go to hell. I told her that at leaste i would have some company. ;)

[Sighs] The life of an atheist with a sunday school teacher mom. :D

Python fans not deterred by subtitles may want to check out classic surreal anti-clerical satires by Luis Bunuel, like L'Age d'Or (1930)- strange episodic goings on, hit and miss perhaps but with some hilarous/ original moments. Phantom of Liberty has some funny scenes involving monks, as well as his usual other main target the Bourgeoisie. The Milky Way, Viridiana and Simon of the Desert are other Bunuel films that concentrate on the church.
