well, i had a thread that asked who pisses you off when you see them in an interview, and there is another thread asking if an actors/actresses/directors personal life affects if you like them or not, but i was wondering if there was ever a time when you didn't like an actor/actress/whatever on a talk show, and the way they were made you like them better?

I garnered a greater appreciation for Alec Baldwin. He's a bit extreme at times with his political rhetoric, but I admire his dedication to preserving the art industry. He's always campaigning to raise funds to keep independent theaters in business and he is always rallying for small off-broadway production companies.

i saw MAtt Damon and Ben Affleck in different interviews and realied they weren't quite the "Nancy boys" i expected them to be, in fact, they were cool.

I liked Josh Harnett from interviews before I liked him in movies. He is a very nice, down-to-earth amicable guy. Although he does a lot of terrible movies, and should find new representation ASAP.

I must say, i have found myself liking or disliking an actor/actress more if i have seen them on a talk show.
But how much can we trust the person the are personifying on that show, is it really the true them in front of that camera?
I'm not sure...maybe i'm being a little too cynical.

I saw Matthew Perry on Jon Stewart's show and thought he was really funny and witty. I kind of expected him to be drunk or drugged up or something. Also Mia Zardolos, I think that's her name, from My Big Fat Greek movie. I had no idea what to think of her and she was way smarter and funnier than I ever imagined.
I saw Joaquin Phoenix on Leno years back when Gladiator came out and he was drunker'n Cooter Brown! I wondered what was going thru his head when he decided it would okay to get shit-faced before appearing on the Tonight Show? I haven't been able to take him seriously ever since.

I think Michelle Rodrigues is great (a lot of people on here don't, I know) - but I always thought she was as tough as her onscreen personas. Watching her on Leno though she was like a giggling school girl - bless :)
God only knows what I'd think of Nicole Kidman if she didn't come across well in interviews - the tabloids paint her an awful persona

Yeah, I kinda noticed that too. Sometimes I watch some interview with some celebrity and he/she seems so witty/nice/adorable/great/whatever, that I start liking him/her more... Haven't experienced v.v. situation... Yet.
But it really depends on the person ;)

Stephanie Mcmahon Of WWE Fame Was On Howerd Stern Once, And She Was A Really Cool And Down To Earth Girl. Even Though Her Acting On WWE Sucks, She Is A Really Cool Person, And Not A Daddy's Little Girl Type Person Like I Thought She Was.

Luke Wilson and Vince Vaughn were very funny when they were on together on the Caroline Rhea show.
Jason Lee and Kevin Smith's appearances on Talk Shows made me like them a whole lot more, although I already knew they were funny guys from the VA commentaries.

I had suspicions that David Boreanaz was an asshole, but I caught him on the now defunct show on VH1 with the rock lists (what the hell was that called?) and he was pleasant and unassuming, and had excellent taste in music. Turned me around on him in @ 30 minutes.

Jennifer Garner - She's goofy and hysterical - a rarity for a beautiful woman.
Ben Affleck - I LOVE Ben!!! He's talented, witty and seems down-to-earth. I've also heard rumors about his "unselfish attitude" which I respect.

I always admired Martin Scorsese, but he gave one of the most thoughtful, interesting, and hilarious interviews on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Talks really fast too.
I was always indifferent to LL Cool J, but came off with a larger respect for him when he was promoting that Eva movie on Conan and badmouthed Rollerball every chance he got

This man is a great actor but he is an ass on talk shows:
James Woods
His appearance with Jennifer Garner on Letterman (?) solidified my love/hate relationship with him.

We discussed this a few months ago, and I hadn't seen it, but subsequently read the transcript, and it was pretty awful.
Interestingly enough, I can remember seeing Woods @ 10 years ago on Bob Costas' old NBC late night show Later (which was a one on one format, w/o an audience), and for half an hour those two guys had a fabulous, fascinating conversation about a lot of different topics. Woods came off as smart, witty and compassionate.

Mandy Moore is always sweet and polite in interviews, I can't think of anyone who is nicer.
I've also heard that Kirsten Dunst is a nice person. I can't stand her as an actress, but maybe in life she's not too bad.

Totally agree. It's nice to see someone setting a good example for kids unlike say, Aguilera (have just realised how old I sound! :p ).

almost always i am disappointed when i see people
interviewed...i prefer to leave the dimensions of actors
in space and time...as art....unknowns...then it holds
the magic for me...

I found that Nicolas Cage, Brad Pitt and Donnie Wahlberg were definitely more watchable after interviews...especially Wahlberg. Boomtown is growing on me these days.
