Tonight i watched "Night of the living dead", the classic from 1968 and i found it so so. Now i want to see other zombie movies preferably from the 70's and 80's.
I've read some reviews and i think the best choices would be:
1- Dawn of the dead (1978)
2- Day of the dead (1985)
What would you suggest? I want some good gory zombie movies. Are my choices good?

All 3 are good, though Return of the Living Dead is more of a parody than a straight genre film.
Just stay away from ROTLD 2 and you'll be fine.

Your welcome, Most people prefer Dawn of the Dead, I do think It was great as well, but suffered from a few flaws; It was overlong, occasionally had some ridiculously bad music, and the Zombies looked kinda unconvincing. Other than that is an amazing film and something you must check out.
Day of the Dead is the most maligned of the trilogy but my favorite. The Zombies look great in this entry, the atmosphere is tense and somewhat claustrophobic, the gore is great, and Romero delves into the psyche of the Zombies in it. Highly recommended imo.
Haven't seen ROTLD so I couldn't tell you much about it, Save it is lauded around these parts and that is supposedly very funny and has some great nudity.
Hope that helps.

Return of the Living Dead part 3 is a good movie also, but avoid part 2 at all costs! There are a lot of Italian zombie movies to look for also. Check out Lucio Fulci's Zombie, The Gates of Hell, The Beyond, Let Sleeping Corpses Lie. Also, I like the low budget Dead Next Door and The Dead Hate the Living has some cool moments. If you are into old horror, check out White Zombie with Bela Lugosi. Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things is one of my favorites, but a strange one. If I think of any more, I'll let you know. I would avoid Zombie Lake and Oasis of the Zombies (even though I kind of like these bad films).

Fuadlives, you've got GREAT taste in zombie flicks. I'd like to also recommend The Beyond and City of the Living Dead from Fulci, and if you like cheesy zombie horror, there's Hell of the Living Dead and Nightmare City (not necessarily a zombie movie per se, but it does have zombie elements).
