I love L.A. Confidential but there is just something about Training Day that makes it top my list. I think L.A. was the better movie but Training Day just has some kinda charm to it...

Of the films mentioned, I'd go for Bad Lieutenant. Abel Ferrara is a patchy director, but BL, King of New York (which could have appeared on this list) and The Funeral are near-masterpieces. Keitel was incredible in Bad Lieutenant - confused, predatory, morally bankrupt and unable to understand why a nun would forgive two youths that raped and humiliated her; it's the ultimate catholic guilt dirty cop story. And I don't think I'll ever forget the scene where he pulls over the two teenagers in the car (if you've seen the film, you'll know what I mean). The ending is terrific.

The rest of the films are all very good (I haven't seen Narc) except for Q&A, which I thought was a complete snoozefest.
