I just bought this movie and watched it again. I totally forgot how well written this film is. Michael Caine and Geoffrey Rush go buck wild with their performances. This movie gets inside my head and stays there for awhile. Also what a statement on censorship. Anyone else like this movie?

Oh definetly a 10/10. If you like well thought out movies with characters played by some of the best actors around this film is for you. Imagine Silence of the lambs cross bred with From Hell and One Flew over the cuckoos nest.
I just read my post and I sound like such a movie snob Ha *sticks nose in the air*

There's really not that much nudity in Quills. We get the mandatory Kate Winslet topless shot, a supporting actress (I forget her name) getting fondled, and a good long look at Geoffrey Rush's butt (and a shorter look at his pubes).
If you have the DVD, make sure to listen to commentary by the screenwriter (again, I forget his name - damn my fading memory!). One of the best and most informative commentary tracks I've heard on a DVD, delving deep into the history of the Marquis de Sade and the era in which he lived. The screenwriter even admits that Quills is not historically accurate, but is rather a story of the Marquis de Sade's life as if it were "tarted up" by the Marquis de Sade himself.

TOTALLY WELL DONE FILM!
Geoffrey Rush was ohenomenal as DeSade, and Winslet's foil role, as curious maid, did well to show the world she wasn't just a big sinking ship.
Props to Phoenix as a conflicted priest, becuase other actors would have been afraid to even accept the role. He's daring.
QUILLS is a tantalizing half accurate history of the man himself, but I must admit I laughed a lot at the play scene, where Michael Caine overacts only as he can.
Give us more of that luscious girl who played Caine's child bride. She was fabulous.
