Using a mix of talent and personality (from what you've seen "off-camera" on talk shows and such), who is the coolest celebrity?
I'd have to say Jason Lee. Seems like a really cool guy.
Rated R

Edward Norton all the way, followed by Cristina Ricci, Jason Lee, Vince Vaughn and Diane Lane.

This thread kicks some ass, but let's try to make sure it heads in a more "discussion" direction than a "listing" direction, after all, that's what'll make this forum more interesting! Thanks!

I think both Julianne Moore and Nicole Kidman come off as two of the nicest and humble, down-to-earth celebs out there.
I think it would be AWESOME if they both won Oscars this year for THE HOURS...plus they deserve them too.

To please Nate and raise my post count I'll explain my choice:
Well, for one, I don't think Lee's ever put in a bad performance. Even in his really bad movies, I still enjoy his performances. Plus, he's very easygoing and funny, and his hair is ALWAYS perfect.:D

I really like Brad Pitt and George Clooney
Brad Pitt is cool as fuck. He knows he's a good looking dude but in his films he plays strange parts that make him ugly and different...KALIFORNIA, 12 MONKEYS and SNATCH. He also seems such a down to Earth kinda guy...especially making a fool of himself in Jackass.
George Clooney, see above really. Same sort of charachter he seems quite funny in his interviews.
Plus Natalie Portman. She's the sort of girl you could take home to mum. God I'm obssessed aren't I?

Kate Hudson seems sweet to me. Christian Bale is funny in interviews and i like that he does charity work (plus the fact that he's piping hot but i'll stop here). Colin Farrell may swear alot which might upset some people, but darn is he funny to watch in interviews! George Clooney and Brat Pitt are both funny guys in interviews. Sandra Bullock is cool too. But most of all, i'd have to say the best guy to interview/hang out with would be Jason Lee - he just seems like the greatest guy to me! Plus he's majorly hot...

After reading the latest interview with her in Entertainment Weekly I have to say Sarah Michelle Gellar has reclaimed the title of my favourite celebrity. She is the sweetest person on the face of this earth. I've almost forgiven her for marrying that dumbass FPJ. The one thing that really got me was in the interview where she said her biggest fear was people hating her for ending Buffy. She's such a sweetie. She's of course followed closely by Eliza Dushku.

As far as badasses go Colin Farrell is definetly my favorite. The guy seems cocky but at the same time very humble. He's also really friggin' hilarious.
As far as nice celebs go, Mandy Moore, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Julianne Moore, Reese Witherspoon, and Queen Latifah all seem like genuine down to earth ladies.

jake gyllenhaal - he's great and he seems awesome in interviews...definately the type of guy i'd like to hang out with
tom hanks - he is super nice and really funny in interviews
jason lee - he does seem like a super guy. and he useto be a skater, so that makes him extra cool!
conan o brien - come on, how can you NOT love this man????
robin williams - he's soooo bad that hes great (as in being sooo unpolitically correct)
harland williams - super funny guy....he's awesome to watch in interviews
vince vaughn - i love his acting, but after seeing how ADORABLY FUNNY he was on a talk show, i love him even more
tim roth - when i saw him on david letterman, he was sooo shy and nervous it was soooo cute!
sandra bullock - she seems really nice and someone who would be like a sister to anyone!

Um Reese Witherspoon seems like a pretty nice person. She comes off as easy going in her interviews and she's very intelligent and witty. I like reading interviews with her in them, she just seems like a really cool person. I would love to hang around her and just get to know her better. She's kinda like a best friend type person, not intimidating.

The following celebrities have all displayed how genuine, funny and down-to-earth they are on more than one occasion, which is why I rate them as my fave celebs.
Julianne Moore - Just appears so down to Earth.
Nicole Kidman - Her appearance with Dame Edna on Jay Leno showed off her natural, easy going nature and ability to laugh at herself.
Sarah Michelle Gellar - Apart from all the charity work she has done, she just seems so genuine. Funny and oh-so-adorable.
Jennifer Love Hewitt - Another celebrity who has such an easy going nature.
Jennifer Lopez - Hearing and reading about her Diva attitude seems hard to take when she comes off so friendly and bubbly in her interviews and what not. I thought her being able to laugh at her marriages on Letterman was so cute.
Jennifer Garner - Is always just so down to earth.
George Clooney - Another down to earth celebrity who appears just to be one of the coolest guys around. Likes to have fun whenever possible which is endearing.
Brad Pitt - Again another actor out there to have fun and not take himself so seriously.
Matthew McConaughey - So laid back and relaxed, yet so crazy and full of energy. You can tell he enjoys his work.
Reese Witherspoon - In her Revealed segment, really showed off her character and the ability to laugh at herself, and she's not fake.
Jennifer Aniston
Matt LeBlanc
Michelle Pfeiffer
Tara Reid
Matt Damon fill out a rather long list.
All actors I respect and appreciate.

Arnold Schwarzenegger - He has starred in some of the most memorable action films of all time and seems to have a great attitude.
Kevin Spacey - If he isn't the most talented actor in Hollywood, I don't know who is. He is such a great actor in every film he appears in.
Julianne Moore: Talented, gorgeous and always comes off as smart and funny in interviews. She's the greatest.
Jodie Foster: Almost scarily intelligent whenever i hear her speak (listen to her commentary for Contact), I'd love to just have a conversation with her over dinner.
Brad Pitt: Not the empty headed guy i might have expected him to be. Comes across as a highly amusing, thoroughly decent bloke.
Cameron Crowe: Utterly cool laid back guy. I'd just love to hang out with Crowe and talk and play music.

He's just the sweetest thing in the world. He's very versatile (watch his comedies Say Anything and Better Off Dead, then watch some of his dramatic films City Hall, Identity, and Midnight in the Garden of Good Evil and then tell me I'm wrong!!), funny, lovable, watching him on screen puts a smile on my face.

Say want you want about her, but you'll always find me defending her on the boards! ;) Ever since I joined here I have confessed to having an enormous crush on this woman. She has made quite a few stinkers (Far and Away anyone???) but now she's really improving dramatically as an actress. Plus, she's beautiful, that's something I will stick by for years to come.

To me she is the epitome of a movie star. Reading her interviews is even more fun than watching her movies. She had snappy, witty comebacks on on every subject and every occasion, and the most vibrant, memorable personality. Ah, where have the good ol' days of Hollyoood gone? Everybody's too nice nowadays, it's boring. Why can't we have just one all-out bitchfest along the lines of Crawford/Davis or at least deHavilland/Fontaine?

I have to say something great about Kevin Spacey. He came to Northeastern University when he was screening his movie "the Life of David Gale" to show the movie and then have a discussion with the audience of staff and students.
The host of the evening mentioned that Spacey was doing these little viewings at all kinds of schools becuase he really wanted to hear what people thought about the subject matter.
He was completely endearing, charming, relaxed, and very honest and open (excluding personal life information as usual).
When asked how he stayed so down-to-earth, he simply mentioned that he lived in NY and stayed out of the hollywood scene, and kept the same group of friends he has had since before he was famous - he said that if he changed or acted to big for his britches they would put him in his place.
That just does it for me - when I can see a celebrity in person or in an interview and hear that kind of honesty I am smitten. I will be a fan forever more.
[/I]now, if I can just stick his heart and sole in Vin Diesel's outer package...... oooofa.

A great actress and seems like a genuinely sweet and down to earth person. Plus she’s as cute as a button. At award shows at premiers she’s almost without exception the most stylishly dressed.

My favorite actress. Comes off as very intelligent and likable in interviews. Even if I hadn’t been a fan before that dress she wore at this year’s SAGs (http://us.imdb.com/EGallery?source=granitz&group=1927&photo=Events/1927/JulianneMo_Grani_947296_400.jpg&path=pgallery&path_key=Moore,%20Julianne) would’ve been enough to convert me.

Monica Bellucci.
She's very intelligent, open-minded, opinionated without being pompous or condescending, cares about others but is comfortable enough with herself not to let what others think of her bother her...
I love everything about her, from looks to talent, to personality...she's the ultimate trifecta.
Naomi Watts also ranks right up there, one of the most kind-hearted, polite people ever in entertainment, and a phenom to watch onscreen.
