Jean-Pierre Melville's Le Samourai. Runner up is the film that goes far beyond the simple assassination, Bernardo Bertolucci's The Conformist.
Other greats:
The Day of The Jackal
La Femme Nikita
The Professional
Ghost Dog: The Way of The Samurai

Day Of The Jackal for me. Fox is always cool, in everything he does. Learned a lot of techniques from that movie, too.
I'd also mention Ghost Dog (great call by Q) and The Mechanic (great call by Adam). That whole first sequence where Bronson sets up the hit, meticulously planning everything until he puts the wheels in motion, is fascinating.
Branded To Kill is just...amazing. "If you don't have any rice, go to a store and buy some!!"

Terminator II: Judgment Day followed closely by The Professional.

I couldn't think of a suitable "other", so I went with Dirty Harry. You gotta respect Clint.

The Killer, no contest.
Leon next
Then... probably Le Samourai
Then, say, Fallen Angels (although that's kind of iffy, but judging from some of the movies in the list, this should be acceptable.)
The listh has very good movies, but those are the best, in my opinion.
(Fulltime Killer's a lot of fun, also.)

The T1000 is sent back through time to assassinate John Connor.
Hence the reason it's on there.

I'll stick to the list...
The Killer 10/10... for sure.
I also loved Last Man Standing 9/10.... one of my favorite Bruce Willis flicks.
There are others, but no need to go overboard and list every movie I've seen...

I voted for The Killer. For a movie that violent to have characters and a story deep enough to bring a tear to my eye at the end... that's a certain kind of special.

Yeah, I know, I know.
I'll think of a suitable punishment for my dumb ass sometime this week. Don't worry. This type of thing will never happen again.
