Anyone seen this cool sounding early eighties slasher? From what i've read it features some pretty cool and damn grisly murder scenes with splatter effects courtesy of Mr Tom Savini. How does it rate when compared to other eighties slashers like the Friday 13th flicks and The Burning? Opinions appreciated.

I've only seen the UK cut to shit version titled Rosemary's Killer so I can't comment on the gore (yet) but I found it quite suspencful and a fun watch. You'll see the killer a mile away though.

hell yeah, there's some PRIMO gore in this one.. My favorite being the guy who gets a machete(or something like that) down through the top of his head.. GREAT STUFF!!!
~~this and Friday four, imo, is savini's best stuff...it IS really old...(I'd say '81.), but its a a cut above the rest of the stuff released then.. but I'm sure there's some pretty chopped up versions of it.. I was lucky to track down a good one..

Very underrated slasher. Not many deaths but all of them are quality. Features great fx by Savini and a competent director in Joseph Zito (Friday the 13th 4). This is in my top ten slasher movies
Plot Breakdown: Starts off with a breakup letter to a World War II soldier from his girfriend. Then it flashes to a welcome home dance for all of the soldiers. The killer shows up to off the girl who wrote the letter and her new boyfriend with a pitchfork. Then flash forward to 1980 where the town decides to hold another dance after the tragedy that happened back in the 40's. As you would know it the kills happen again vintage My Bloody Valentine. There are some really graphic kills from the killer decked out in army fatigues. Vickie Dawson plays a good heroine and has help from the town deputy to track down the killer. Features some good cat and mouse chases and a great finale.
This one has some good production values and features an excellent music score. If u like early 80 slashers I strongly recommend you watch it. But get the uncut version.
9/10

This has it all over FRIDAY THE 13th, and I'd say it's more consistently creepy than THE BURNING. Really nasty, and really intense at times. I'd agree that this is the best Savini slasher showcase alongside FRIDAY THE 13th : THE FINAL CHAPTER (and MANIAC, of course).
Yeah, the identity of the killer is kinda obvious, but isn't it always like that? The movie gets no points for originality, as it slavishly follows the post-HALLOWEEN slasher rules...but it's extremely effective anyway. One of the top 5 slashers, in my book.
Oh, and watch out for that last scene. That last scene is really disturbing...

I own it and it is sometimes really boring although the deaths are really gory and impressive, good job from Savini !!!
The killer is impressive with his private - outfit.
The death in the shower was really great !!
I would give 7/10 but not more.
