Who's your favorite child actor (or actress) working from 1996-2003?

My favorite is Jena Malone. She was solid in Bastard Out of Carolina and I have never seen a child actress so real in her performances, so my vote goes to her.

I know that Haley Joel Osment will win since he's soooooooooo popular and so many schmoes on this board loves him. But he's my least favorite on the list. He's a great actor I'll admit that, but he just creeps me out for some reason.

Tyler Hoechlin was quite good in RTP, so he gets my vote. I don't really like Osment, nothing againt the kid but his films don't really interest me at all.

There isn't a choice for other, but my choice is: Emma Watson.

Still, I voted for Rory Culkin. He was bloody brilliant in Signs!

Some great choices...

Haley Joel Osment and Tyler Hoechlin are both strong contenders, and deservedly so.

I went for Nicholas Hoult. He completely convinced me in "About a Boy"...and I didn't get any scary man-child vibes from him.

I'd also have to give a mention to Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot), a great performance from a very naturalistic young actor.

HJO, with Matt O'Leary coming in a close second. If MO's sophomore effort is as good as HJO was in AI, he might take over.

Jena Malone.

Regarding how extraordinarily talented she is, I believe she could become the next Jodie Foster. She's got the gift, now all she needs is to pick edgy independent scripts, instead of mawkish crap (ahem*Stepmom*ahem)

just wanted to mention one thing... the tittle of this thread is "FAVORITE child actor."

i voted for my favorite child actor but i think the most talented is HJO. i think their is a difference between favorite and best.

Haley Joel Osment. His performance in The Sixth Sense is the 2nd best child performance I've seen(after Christian Bale in Empire of the Sun).

I was glad that there were people who didn't vote for HJO. Thank you MovieJunkie this thread is to vote for your FAVORITE child actor, but HJO is probably everybody's favorite since he's so talented. But, he just creeps me out (don't hurt me).

Damn it, my favorite child actor, David Dorfman (The Ring, Panic, Bounce, upcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake), is always left out of these "child actor" polls :(.

Hell, I don't even think of Jenna Malone as a child anymore. When I think of child actors, I think of little kids, and she's not a little kid. But if she is considered a child actor then I'd have to say another of my favorite child actors would be the lovely and extremely talented Evan Rachel Wood (ABC's Once & Again, Little Secrets, Simone, Thirteen).

I don't really think Nicholas Hoult is deserving of being in this poll yet, since he's only been in one damn movie. Sure, he was really good in About A Boy, but he should be in more movies before he gets to be in this poll. There's other child actors that have done more movies and don't even get included (David Dorfman for example ;)).

I do really like the adorable Dakota Fanning (I Am Sam, Trapped), but I still just can't vote in this poll. My favorite is David Dorfman, and there's not many others on the list that I'm too fond of.

Defo Haley Joel Osment, brilliant in The Sixth Sense and AI.

Does seem a little too old before his time though.

Voted for Lindsay Lohan
She made the Parent Trap re-make watchable and I actually got hooked on watching Lifesize because of her too. She's got a spark about her. Can't wait to see what she does next..hopefully not another Disney movie.

I voted for Osment. He was great in Sixth Sense and AI, along with the unmentioned small role in Forrest Gump. But I'm probably the only Schmoe who doesn't get creepy vibes from him (though he's probably got more female ass than I have :()

I can see someone was nice and added beautiful Lindsay! Anywho, yeah I voted for her, because, well, I love her! AND she's good. By the by, her nexst movie is the remake of Freaky Friday. LOL

I'm going to have to say Haley Joel Osment.

I suppose, though, I'd go with anyone but the creepy, possessed devil-child known as Dakota Fanning.

It's just, she looks so odd, like a puppet or something, when she's acting...

Haley Joel Osment is extremely talented. He was the only really good thing about A.I.. Matt O'Leary is the runner-up.

Haley Joel Osment, of course. The only actor that can even compete with him as a child was Jodie Foster.

I love her, I thought she was great in I AM SAM and really good in TRAPPED. I don't think she looks odd at all. She's adorable and a very mature little actress. Her performances are so mature and even when I've seen her on talk shows she's been really mature. She is one extremely mature kid. Hmm, maybe she's a stepford child!? Because good kids like her usually don't exist in the real world ;).

Definitely Haley Joel Osment, without a doubt.
