Has anyone seen this movie? I'm not sure if it's horror (although it shows kids getting stabbed and going crazy) or not but I just know it freaked me out when I saw it over my cousin's house. What do you all think about it?

Which film version are we talking about? There's the 60s version (the Peter Brooks black and white version) and the early 90s version which differs a bit from the source material. By the way I'm currently reading the original book. Personally, the first film follows the book more closely yet for some reason it's slower and less engaging then the newer version. I've always been found on the story since it describes real horror since the threat is mankind and not some evil force. (On a side not, I just found out that the twins who play Sam n' Eric in the 90s version were from my town and also did a show at a theatre I have performed at...freaky!

I read the book quite a few years back in like 10th grade. Uhm, I think I watched the old movie, too, but I really can't remember. I will have to rent it , just to see.

PHANTOM....those twins from the remake must be in their 20's by now! I always wondered whatever happened to them, as well as many of the others in this talented cast (aside from Balthazar Getty).

Yeah they have to be in their 20s. I've wondered the same about what happened to all the boys in the newer version. I know Getty made some movies within the last few years but most of the boys seemed to have disappeared off the face of the earth. I know the twins have maybe done one thing since the film...but if anything else and where they are now I don't know.

I'm talking about the early 90's version. I think I saw the black and white version a long time ago, but I saw the 90's version recently.

After reading the book in my senior year English class we were forced to watch one of the most excruciatingly bad movies ever made in my opinion, LOTF B&W edition. Acting was deplorable. Wicked boring as compared to the book. Hated the ending, but hated the ending in the book too. Worst part I htought was the casting of Piggy, who wasn't fat in the movie, only chubby. I sympathized with his character throughout the book because I have ass-mar and know what it's like, although I'm not fat. But in the movie he just whines about how he can't do anything although he prob. weighs only 15 lbs. more than Jack or Ralph.

Very good point, the Piggy from the 90s version had a bit more meat on him. Anyways, who said you could talk...you don't have the conch!!! (Sorry, if you haven't read the book or seen the movies you won't get the joke.)
