Before Stone became known for his political films, he was a struggling director who made two horror films, Seizure and The Hand. From what I understand, they aren't that great anyways, and have been out of print for at least a decade, but I wonder of anyone managed to get ahold of them. How do they fit into his body of work? Is there any hint of the talent he would later display?

I saw The Hand once in a used cd store. I didn't buy it and it was gone within a week or so. That's all I can say. I don't think Stone is all that talented. The drugs messed him up pretty bad.

I did not know Stone directed some horror movies.
Salvador has some very harsh scenes, do u remember when Doyle ( James Woods ) and his friend go in the mountains to take pictures of the corpses or the execution of the communist student ?
The end was also very hard, I mean near the end in the bus when Doyle was about to be killed.
Great performance of James Woods ( my favorite actor !!!!! )

These films are not widely acknowledged among his fans. "Not the real Oliver Stone!" they'd say.
If he had continued working in the genre, I wonder how this would have looked?

He did that mini series "Wild Palms" which was obviously inspired by Lynch's Twin Peaks and had the same style.
It was set in the future and, was about corporations trying to brainwash people with 3d television sets - or something. It was quite good.
There was a really cool bit in one episode where a current affairs man on the telly in the background says "And today, we are talking to contraversial film director Oliver Stone. Years after the JFK assassination. The top secret documents have finally been released" turns to Oliver Stone: "...You were right. Yet at the time your film 'JFK' attracted scorn from sceptics. Does you feel bitter at all."
Stone: "Well no, not really..."
