Just the other day, I was asking around these here boards to see if anyone had seen a movie that had the following elements:
1- A kid whos in a Gym and his classmates make fun of him, so he kills one of em just by looking at him.
2- A scene where they were playing out a scene from the bible where Jesus was being crucified. Only thing is...while the actors are doing their thing, the actor playing Jesus starts to really get crucified, and all the people in the audience start crying blood.
3- A dark and brooding castle.
Well, I did some searching and found it. For some time Id been looking for it, but I didnt know its name or the actors that were in it...so I did a quick search on IMDB (after having asked some of my fellow schmoes for help of course!) and found the sucker! The flick was called Fear No Evil. Its a 1981 flick, that my dad had taken me to see when I was about 5 or 6, and that at the time had scared the living shit out of me!
So now, I wanted to see it again, see if it was really as scary as I had remembered. And guess what? Well now I just found it interesting and mildly amusing, but not "horrorfying" of course, I was just 5 or 6. So that explains that.
Its not a bad film. Its sort of like following the success of films like THe Omen and The Exorcist, and it wasnt all that bad, cause it had some decent scenes. Like the ones I mentioned before. This flick even had some zombies in it!
But It was preatty cool to hunt down one of my childhood fears and see it again, with the mind of an adult. It was kinda weird cause I was watching it and saying "I can see why that would scare me as a child" but now I just enjoyed the flick.
And it was like going back in time, and remembering those images that scared me soooo much as a kid...it was a trip!
This ever happened to you guys?

I rented it for the first time about 2 years ago, nothing special, but nothing bad either. I did like the soundtrack.

I know its like no biggie, but it was cool for me to see it again.
I was actually surprise at how many details I could remember from it, I was 5, now Im 27. I preatty much got most of it right.
I was surprised at how much male nudity this flick has. It was like all over the place specially in that scene in the boys bathroom. Jeez!
And the soundtrack was preatty cool. I was amazed to hear some Ramones in there. "Blitzkreig Bop" in a horror movie! How cool was that! :D

Just last week, I started a thread about a scene from a movie I saw, who's title I never knew. It turned out to be the 1988 remake of "The Blob." I have yet to see and am excited for it.
About a year ago, before I registered onto these horror boards or even stumbled onto the Arrow In The Head website, I finally found out the name to a movie I had seen as a child on TV...Tobe Hooper's "Invaders From Mars," which is also a remake I believe. I know, the movie isn't so good, but when I saw as a kid, it was actually kind of scary, and watching some movie previews to a movie, I figured that this was that movie. Now, I laugh at myself for once thinking it was scary, and I laugh at the movie itself. Actually, the movie isn't too bad. I can see why I thought it was scary, but there's something about the movie that just makes it as creepy as it should've been. Perhaps it's PG/PG-13 rating?
Another movie I had to track down was "Friday The 13th: Jason Lives." It was my first horror movie experience! I must've been 7 years old when I was being babysat by this cool dude from my church. The movie was on TV, so he, being the cool dude he is, let me watch it. It was a different kind of movie experience, since I had never seen a horror movie before, and I kind of enjoyed it. Later that night, my mom left to take back some movies. I went with her to the video store, and somehow, I ended up in the horror section, and there, I found the box to the movie I had just seen on TV..."Friday The 13th: Jason Lives." I've never really left that horror section...Well, after that, I understandably ended up seeing more and more horror movies, and I forgot the name to that first horror movie I had seen. I never forgot a lot of key sequences though...Jason squeezing the cop's head killing him, Jason attempting to squeeze the girl's head, Jason following the one girl counselor by the window and eventually killing her, cutting her whole body to pieces (though, it was off-screen), Jason being lured into Crystal Lake by Tommy Jarvis, Jason fighting and struggling with Tommy, and the final shot of Jason's eye opening when you thought he was killed (a teaser ending). Well, once I started catching up with the "Friday The 13th"'s, I figured out that first horror movie was "Jason Lives," and upon seeing it again after so long, it was so awesome. It remains one of my two favorite Jason movies.

Neon Maniacs!
I vaguely remeber watching it many, many years ago late on HBO one night. I never knew the name of it and would occasionally wonder what it was....
I even asked the owner of my favorite video store but it did not ring any bells with him, of course the only description I could really give was SPOILER ALERT "The mosnters were killed with water" .
Well fast forward several years and this thread http://www.joblo.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28679&highlight=Neon pops up and viola!!! I have the movie I wondered about for so many years.

Hey I-zombie, Ive been trying to see Neon maniacs for like the longest time, cause all I ever hear is good things about it. Ive yet to find a copy of it..thanks for reminding me of this elusive flick! Oh and thanx for that link!
Duke Nukem- cool post. Thats what Im talking about. This sense of wonder when you relive a flick from your childhood. You feel like " so this is what scared me when I was a kid". Its a cool sensation. Plus if the movie actually turns out to be good (like in you case) its like discovering a long lost treasure. Invaders from Mars (1986) Jason Lives, and The Blob (1988) are all excellent in my book! Jason Lives is a great first horror film experience! Mine was Dead by Dawn when I was like 6. Nightmares for months! I actually thought a zombie would grab my legs from under my bed..heh heh..:D
KingPhenom007- Thanks for the info on Fear No Evils DVD release!

I also remember this.
In late 2000, I saw cool movie on HBO: "Black Top" about a whacked out truck driver (Meat Loaf) who may appear to be just a "pretty" face, but deep underneath, he's a whaked-out psychopath with issues. He lures the girlfriend (Kristen Davis) of a comedian (Lochlyn Munro), after the two have a fight and break up, and after the driver tips him a clue of his crazy tendencies, he rushes desperately tries to follow up with the truck and save his girlfriend before it's too late. There's cool action, little twists, good characters, and surprising emotional depth in it.
Well, this movie had never left my memory since and late last year, I was lucky enough to find at my local Suncoast Video on DVD.

Never mind, I saw the on the list at Anchor Bays site.
Heres their description of the film:
FEAR NO EVIL - Summer 2003
From director Frank La Loggia (LADY IN WHITE) comes his debut classic concerning a high school student who becomes The Anti-Christ! Widescreen (16x9), trailers, interviews, audio commentary, and many more extras to be announced! Closed Captioned for the Hearing Impaired.
Its cool, that they are making their way to DVD! I also saw Day of the Dead, and the zombie flick The Pit on that list!

There are no zombies in the Pit. Just a psychotic boy whos stuff bear talks to him and he feeds his enemies to some monsters in a pit in the woods.

When I was REALLY little, my neighbor (who was older than me) made me watch the scariest movie I'd ever seen. I remember this demon lady thing stabbing another woman in the foot with a pencil and that lady eventually became a demon thing too. I used to cry when he'd make me sit through it (I was like 4). Like a couple months ago, my horror-loving friend bought THE EVIL DEAD and EVIL DEAD 2. She told me I should watch em and lent them to me. I wound up getting this funky deja-vu throughout the first movie...Then it hit me--it was the movie that used to make me cry.

Yes its that story about that black blobbly oil spill thingy moving around in the lake while some kids are partying on a raft. They are attacked by it and trapped in the middle of the lake by that thing. Preatty cool story, think what if The Blob learned how to swim...

There was this Made-For-TV Movie about killer bees called "Deadly Invasion: The Killer Bee Nightmare." I saw it back in the mid-90's. I was younger than, and remember it freaking me out. Lucky for me, I recently found it on DVD (you can get anything on DVD now!). Of course, it wasn't as effective this time around, but it was kind of cool. Of course, he wasn't a big star then, and I certainly didn't know who he was then, but it stars Ryan Philloppe, of all actors, in it. The only major actor I knew in it then and now is Robert Hays.

Hey I remember seeing Twisted Brain when I was young. I'd love to see this hit DVD again to see how it holds up after all these years. I distinctly remeber 2 killings in the film, the scene where the guy has his face dipped in a vat of acid, and the teacher getting stomped to death by the killer while wearing shoes with cleats.

For me it was this movie called "Fortress" (not the one with christopher lambert). A small group of (Austrailian?) students is stalked by a gang of guys wearing masks. It freaked me out as a kid but, I saw it a few months ago. It kinda sucked.

I remember this one! Freaked me out!
I remember when Alfred Hitchcock Presents was around for a second time (after his death), there was this episode about a murdered sorority girl and a funhouse. I really want to see this again.
