Like Poltegiest. PG-13 didn't exist yet so it was labled PG by MPAA. I think due to the content they should have had theaters post a warning about how intensce this film was so parents who took their kids to see it wouldn't have had such a rude surprise.

So Bloodybitch, were you offended by the rating?
I honestly don't care what the rating is for any movie. Except when they cut a horror movie down enough for a PG-13 rating. Boo!

Tremors 3: Back to Perfection should have been rated PG-13. As it stands, it's probably the only PG flick (since the advent of PG-13) that uses the words "shit" and "ass."

Ahhh, ratings something we don't care about here in Belgium.

Have you seen a little movie called Back To The Future? It has shit, ass, asshole. Really PG-13 material.

The first two BTTF movies should certainly have been rated PG-13. When the original came out, that rating was so new they still weren't sure exactly how to apply it. As for the second one, I suspect Spielberg and Zemicks levied some pressure on the MPAA. But this is slightly off topic. If you want to talk about pure horror, then may I make an observation about Friday the 13th, Part VI? It's the one where Jason comes back as a zombie. This is my favorite entry in the series. It's also the most heavily censored, I think. There is so little gore that with a few more cuts, this thing could easily have slipped by with a PG-13. In theory at least. However, being a Friday movie would automatically guarantee an R-rating at least--the ratings board seriously had an agenda here.

You're not alone. I haven't seen it, either.
As for the topic...I don't know. I barely pay any attention to ratings, to be honest.

I think The Ring should've been rated R. Simply because of the disturbing images and the whole theme of it. I mean I'm two months away from being a father, and when my kid is thirteen I won't let them watch The Ring. :D

Still to this day can't believe the original "Jaws" was rated PG.
If it came out today, just as it already is, it would be R for sure.

Shame on you, not seeing Back to the Future.
Back to the Future is kickass!!
Frailty was Restricted in Canada. It takes a hell of a lot for a movie to be rated R up in here so when I rented it, I was expecting the most graphic, horrific movie ever made. Nope. Nothing. Not even a lil sumthin'-sumthin' from Matthew McConawhatever. I suppose it was the content, but I still think that Frailty should've received a PG-13 like The Ring.

I thought the wole reason a movies were tagged rated PG-13 was because of the reactions by parents to Gremlins being a PG movie. The kitchen scene in it has some really cool gore(blender, microwave).

Actually, I thought it was oneof the Indiana Jones films that casued the controversy. I've never seen any of them but I remember reading somwthing about one of them having to much violence leading to the creation of the PG - 13 label.

Here in the UK it was "Batman" that caused the stir which led to creation of the 12 certificate (Above PG and below 15). There are little scenes like when the Joker fried someone with his hand buzzer that they deemed too much for a PG rating.
